If you love the ocean......

A throwback to the old Sea Captain's house... this place is situated on Moonstone Beach a stone's throw from the beach. Beware.. the road runs in front of the restaurant but doesn't interfere with view. Not everyone gets a view so be prepared too wait for those ideal tables. They do not take... read more

The Sea Chest is unique among today's restaurants with no reservations, beer & wine only and cash only. Even though it's been expanded since I was last there, it is still a very cozy place. They've even added a cocktail patio in the parking lot facing the ocean for diners to have a glass of wine awaiting seating - a... More

Our party of four was there on Moonstone beach for a one night stay on the way to San Francisco. I had calamari steak which you can only seem to get a restaurants in California. Everyone in the party loved their meal... This place is very popular and doesn't take reservations or credit cards...This was our third time eating at... More

Well known restaurant in the area and they do not take reservations. So you have to get there early and get in line. Food was very good and so was the service. Definitely worth the wait and experience. Beautiful waiting area with fireplace outsie with a view of the ocean.

Had eaten here about 7 years ago and the food was very good. This time my wife and I ordered different fish items from the menu and we found the food to be a lot less than expected. The food was served hot and looked good but lacked any distinct flavor. The view out onto the Pacific ocean with a... More

We were fortunate enough to get a 'sunset' table. Food was fantastic, worth the slight hassle getting a table.

My husband and I love this place. It feels like you are having dinner at a fishermans home. It's cozy and unique with different rooms and a bar to hang out in while you wait for a table. The area facing the ocean with views doesn't have the same charm as some of the other areas but still great to... More

Fresh fish from a daily list. On the menu they suggest what varieties may be available, but you need to confirm that day's availability with the list. You can't get fresher than that. I had Thresher Shark, it was moist, simply grilled & very tender. The oysters of the day were from the East Coast, salad contained some nice extras... More

We chose this restaurant because of the queues. Apparently there is a queue to get in every night. So we joined it and got a table. Frankly the food was average, and it was well over priced. All in all we were disappointed and do not understand why anyone would queue for it.

Many good reviews already, and this one is another to add to the list. The calamari is simply the very best anywhere. Service is quick and friendly.
