Seafood restaurant that lives up to its reputation

The vacation village of Cambria, CA is full of eating possibilities, but several friends recommended the Sea Chest Oyster Bar (and restaurant). Also the daily fresh fish does sell out so don't eat too late.

Great food; reasonable prices; need reservations or plan a wait, esp on weekends as very popular, but ell worth waiting for.

A colleague from Cambria suggested the Sea Chest restaurant for dinner, saying it is “his absolute favorite”. He told us about the long wait for a table, suggested we bring a bottle of wine to enjoy as we waited. His also suggested we bring chairs in case there was no where to sit near the fire pit. I got the... More

Went here with friends a few weeks ago. There was a very long wait and they don't take reservations. They also don't take credit cards. Cash only, but that was fine. We were finally seated and ordered appetizers. Before the appetizers even came, we were told to "keep it down" and "other customers are complaining". So our friend went to... More

We ate seafood pasta for dinner, the cook made it while we watched him pick the fresh ingredients and prepare our meal. Outstanding experience, service and settings are great. Don't miss it if you like seafood!

We are locals who have only been here twice before in 13 years because we didn't feel there was anything special about the seafood, other than being fresh. At the recommendation of our daughter we recently visited again to give it a try. We enjoyed the seafood bar, the staff was very friendly and we tried a couple of new... More

Blew us away that people started lining up at 3pm for a line to get in. No reservations, no credit cards so bring cash. And bring a chair to sit in line with, a sweater/wrap, and a bottle of wine to drink and talk with the others in line. Hint, if you don't want to be seated at a table... More

First-off...we did not eat there so this rating is on impression only. Our hotel was right next door to the Sea Chest and it was recommended to us. So we walked-in...there was a 40 minute wait...tiny place...people everywhere and very loud. They don't take reservations and they have very limited hours w/dark days. Just can't wait 40 minutes if there... More

This was a Restaurant we wanted to try on Our 1st visit to the area. They open @ 5:30, they don't take reservations & only accept cash. We found an ATM, got Cash & arrived just after opening & we were seated immediately. We enjoyed both our food & wine. We had 1 appetizer, 2 entrees & wine. Our bill... More

First, make sure you have cash or check because they don't take credit cards (there is an atm machine in the premises)! I had the swordfish special that was bland and my boyfriend had a shrimp scampi that was not that great in which he didn't even finished! The restaurant is small and you can see the cooks as they...
