The reviewer with the negative comments about the pork chop must have been at another restaurant. The pork chop is never breaded. It is a signature choice of the Black Cat and keeps me coming back for more. Perhaps they misunderstood the delicious stuffing for breading. At any rate, it is amazing and the desserts are to die for. I... more

We made a special detour on our trip to Santa Cruz this weekend to eat dinner at the BCB. We are REALLY glad we did! Our food was excellent, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Chef Deborah and Sous Chef Aaron really impressed us. We started out with an abalone appetizer and an appetizer pizza... more

I chose this restaurant based on the fabulous reviews here. I ordered a stuffed pork chop that was not stuffed, it was breaded, and was the worst chop I have ever had, seriously, tough and grainey. My wife had scollops that were just OK, but only 3 for $25. I was going to tell the server how bad my meal... more

This is a fine place with good atmosphere and friendly service with a nice bar as well. However our meal of scallops was supposed to have four large ones included and it came with only three rather small ones instead. And this for about $26.00 per entree. We felt ripped off with that. The whole menu is considerably overpriced. I... more

Excellent and inventive menu, local produce, great service and cozy. It is not overly priced considering the quality of the food. Dinner here then dessert at Linn's! more

I loved this place. I almost always travel by myself and eating in a nice restaurant alone can be intimidating. They made me feel very comfortable and welcome. I had the fresh fig crostini appetizer and it was fantastic. I then had the duck breast which was equally good. The have a very nice selection of wine by the glass... more

I've dined at the bar often and I've never been disappointed. The dishes are well constructed with fresh ingredients and are nicely presented - the chef is obviously skilled. The wine list is eclectic and not overpriced. The staff (and my fellow diners at the bar!) have always been warm and friendly. The Black Cat was my first dining experience... more

Cute little place. Very casual. Moderate prices. Menu was small but everything we ate was delightful and different from the standard menu you see elsewhere. The only negative was their bread, not real great but they let me bring in my own dipping sauce that I bought locally, that helped. Warm and friendly service. They don't have a full bar.... more

When we arrived for our reservation, the Black Cat Bistro was packed with a mixture of families and couples enjoying dinner. We were given a friendly greeting and even though we were 15 minutes early for our reservation, they seated us promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us great service. Almost everything on the menu was local and... more
