Worst sushi ever! I had to spit out the salmon, and asked to have it removed from my bill. The older Asian waitress argued with me that the other diners didn't complain about the salmon. I told her it was NOT FRESH, it was mushy and had a brownish lifeless look to it when I shined my light on it!... More

Wow... you would think that being a local that I would have known better than to eat at this restaurant. My lunch there last week was infuriating. Somewhat tasty, but infuriating. And nothing like being infuriated to cause indigestion. For starters, both the husband and wife owners lorded over my very well-behaved children like they were juvenile delinquents and incapable... There is no excuse that this Sushi Restaurant can't be a good one. The place looked shabby and the fish was.... unremarkable.... Don't bother.

I have no idea how this place is still in business...It is gas station quality sushi in a strange location with bizzare owners that stare at you while you are eating with no air conditioning and flies everywhere. I would not ever want to go back here even though it's the only sushi for 15 miles, and I love sushi....Seriously... More

The fish WAS NOT fresh: the hamachi was a bit slimey; the tuna was greying some; california role "crab" was flavorless; even the sushi-rice was over-vinegered and sharp. Also, I picked up an unambiguous 'loathing vibe' from the women who served us. Sounds strange for a person in business to loath a customer but the feeling was undeniable and unprovoked.... More

I have to say this was the worst restaurant experience my husband and I have ever had. We were staying across the street at the wonderful Indian Springs and after a nice, relaxing day of taking the waters we were ready for a mid-afternoon snack. We were happy to see the OPEN sign on just across the street at Kitani.... More

After spending the night at Indian Springs Resort and enjoying the mud baths and mineral pools, we checked out at 5:00 feeling very relaxed and refreshed. I know there are soo many places where we could have had our last meal in the area but I chose Kitani for the convenience and I really wanted Japanese food. I had read... More

Kitani Sushi should be renamed "Kittanai Sushi" (Dirty sushi). Don't just walk away, run! My girlfriend and I were new residences to Calistoga and needed a sushi fix so check this "sushi restaurant" out (and I use that term loosely). It is run down and the two owners are not Japanese in any sense of the term. Japanese restaurants take... More

We stopped by here because of its close proximity to our hotel, and boy, were we sorry. This place had everything: unfriendly staff, terrible food that made me sick, outrageously overpriced food that were not fresh by any stretch of the definition, and less than pristine dining area. It should've been a sign that there was no patrons during peak... More

Rather odd in that the owners do everything but not cheerfully. The sushi was passable but the whole experience wasn't a good one. Was in the mood for good japanese and didn't get it. Get your sushi fix elsewhere.
