RAINY DAY DINING

After spending the day at the Geysers, window shopping, and a little wine tasting, we hopped into Brannan's to escape the rain and grab a bite to eat. This was recommended to us by Huge Bear wine tasting. I had the French onion soup and French dip sandwich - my husband had a salad and fish... read more

This is a very large restaurant with a huge fireplace - very charming. Unfortunately, the service is not very good. We waited for 45 minutes after ordering dinner before being served. Little things like needing more water always required flagging down a waiter. We ordered salmon originally, but after about 10 minutes, we were told they were out. It's too... More

While the manager and chef try to make up for poor service, short of giving the entire bill up for free, there isn't much they can do to compensate for the overly friendly, but poor service. Give a grumpy but attentive/efficient server any day.

My wife and I arrived for a long weekend and our B&B host recommended Brannan's Grill. It was wonderful. The food was delicious. We had the grilled chicken sandwich with the most amazing French fries. Old world charm - great food - friendly staff. And did I mention those French fries?

Had a great anniversary dinner here, recommended by our concierge. All meats cooked to perfection, sides were delicious and devoured. Drinks were good and strong. The only little shortcoming was the creme brulee, and we have that wherever we go. But of course we went here for Dinner and that was fantastic.

Nice place, nice wait staff. Of 5 people two enjoyed the dinners they chose. One was a steak and one was the grilled cheese. The other dishes ranged from not tasting good for those people who ordered them. It was pretty expensive as well

We were sat by the fireplace immediately. The service was prompt and courteous. The wife loved her beet salad and french onion soup. The sign on the door did not lie. It was the best flat iron steak I've had in the last year. Med rare all way through. And I'm not sure what they did with the spinach but... More

Our first night in Calistoga we went here for drinks and oysters before our dinner reservation at another restaurant in town. The ambiance here is warm and inviting. The house cocktails were excellent. I really liked the "Grow a Pear". The oysters while small were nice. We checked out the menu and decided to come the following night for dinner.... More

This restaurant was a surprise. I expected a burger place, but it was refined and upscale. Nice wine list. Rib Eye was on point. 14-ounces, not cut too thick, but my Medium Rare+ was perfect. My son ordered the bone marrow, which he really loved--spread on nicely toasted bread. The 1/2-chicken was so tender and juicy, with a crispy skin--to... More

Meal was ok, not more. Beet salad was much too salty. The beef ribs were too fat and the veggies were totally uninterestingly presented and flavored. The service was great however and very friendly. They just need a new chef there!
