A lunch stop during travel

The place was recommended as pretty good in the area we were staying, by a local friend. My wife and I went during the lunch rush. We were told the lunch special was a good start, so we had at it. The sushi was fine, some of the flavors were unique, but tasty enough. We sat at the counter, and... read more

The sushi we had was so fresh, delicious and, we all agreed, was some of the best we've ever had. The place is small and simple, but it's one of those places that seems to be crowded because the food is so good, so you overlook the lack of decor. The restaurant and the restroom was clean and organized. We... More

One thing is true: the food is good! So why the poor rating? Everything else! The decor is non existant and depressing, how difficult would it be for the owners to put on a fresh coat of paint and a few decorating touches? The service is so-so. They know what to do but the waitstaff never smile and appear to... More

A neighborhood gem. The seafood at ShibuyaCalabasas couldn't be fresher or more tantalizing. I've eaten at some of the finest sushi bars in Japan, and for certain Shibuya is on par. This restaurant is a mom and pop operation in a tiny storefront. It doesn't take reservations, and when you arrive, you sign in on a clipboard next to the... More

Infuriated, disappointed, and SICK!!! I just finished eating at Shibuya with my boyfriend and it was so bad that I felt the need to write this review as soon as we got home. Where do I start? How about where it really matters: the food/fish. We ordered toro sashimi, salmon sushi, the spicy toro roll, and the Shibuya roll. These... More

Some of the best sushi i have ever enjoyed. I sometimes make the two hour commute from San Diego just so that i can satisfy my TORO RICE CAKE craving, its that good.

While I consider sushi just another word for tape worm, if you want sushi, this tiny, like in Japan, almost always packed, sushi bar is not to be missed. No sushi is inexpensive, and this place is no exception, but his fish and menu are as good, if not the best, of any in So. Cal.

Yes, it's small and yes, the waits can be long, but Shibuya makes sublime, spectacular sushi in a tiny suburban strip mall in Calabasas. Whether yellowtail sushi (literally melts in your mouth) or fun rolls (like the Shibuya roll's crunchy goodness), a meal at Shibuya redefined sushi for me. While they don't take reservations, they do provide a clipboard with... More

Elegantly made and delicious - the best quality sushi we have found in the valley. This said, it's too small and the wait is long unless you are really lucky. A few times, we have given up and went to Banzai Sushi across the street (merely ok).

What a great sushi restaurant tucked away in Calabasas. It holds around 6 or 7 tables plus the sushi bar so at around 6:30pm our wait time was around 40 minutes and this was on a Tuesday. It was worth the wait and the sushi was out of this world.. fresh. The daily catch is listed on the wall and... More
