Interesting and tasty salads, great for mix and match with friends

Ever since a Burmese friend took me there many years ago I've enjoyed going back to Mingalaba. We loved to order the salad and main dish combinations and then share them family style to enjoy a broader variety of food. The ginger, papaya and other salads are crunchy and tasty. The main dishes... read more

Absolutely delicious coconut soup, mango salad, lamb spicy basil. Pretty good pumpkin chicken, a bit underdone, I've eaten better. Extremely busy, but served reasonably fast. Only problem is the decibel level: it is absolutely difficult to talk without yelling across the table.

I entertained clients in Burlingame this week and they wanted spicy so I took them to Mingalaba one night and Rangoon Ruby the second night. Here's how I would compare the 2 restaurants which are 2 doors apart. Based on my top 8 criteria, here's how it would score out: 1. Reservations - Rangoon Ruby takes them so they win.... More

Food is really good. Many Burmese dishes but also Chinese dishes. Place is really busy, crowded and packed, so don't expect a quiet evening. Must order the tea leaf salad.

Had a wonderful dinner at the wonderful Burmese restaurant, Mingalaba in Burlingame. The restaurant is very popular so expect a line and a bit of a wait to get in but it is worth it. We had the Rainbow Salad as an appetizer and then the Mango Tofu as the main dish. The food was perfectly prepared and the service... More

This isn't real Burmese food...and that's a good thing (Burmese food in Myanmar is quite terrible!). Mingalaba has a wonderful fresh element to their food and Americanized, just enough. When I'm home, I get takeout or eat here at least once a week. Favorites (and I've tried almost everything on their menu!): -Coconut noodle soup is to die for. -House... More

The regular lines at Mingalaba tell the story. It is worth the wait. Been going there for over 7 years now. The food is consistently good, the service friendly and efficient. Don't be mislead by the new Burmese restaurant next door, Mingalaba is the real thing and the only place to go for Burmese food.

This is the third time we visited this place. Every year we come to San Francisco, we make a point visit this restaurant. The variety of Burmese food is enticing. My favorite dish is the "Vegetarian Samusa Soup" A real spice one if fancy that. Varity of Chinese, Indian and Burmese dishes provide vegetarian and meat and seafood options. Staff... More

We got in at exactly 11am, me a friend of mine were the first to arrive. The staff were very attentive as soon as we got in. Showed us the table right by the entrance. It's our first time to have a Burmese food so i'm not absolutely sure what to expect. But we got Curry prawns and mango salad.... More

I always stop in to Mingalaba when I travel to the Bay Area. Its close proximity to the SF airport makes sure I go at least one time during my travels (I would even go there on a long layover at SF airport). And while Mingalaba's menu offers many delicious dishes, I come specifically for the rainbow salad. It's not... More
