The very name, “Straits”, evokes exotic South-East Asia. This was also the varied fusion cuisine we met on the "carte" of the namesake restaurant in Burlingame - Malay, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Indian in all its variety. It was a Saturday night... We were a party of three - my wife, my adult daughter, myself. The ambience was just right, not... More

Had a business dinner there with a large group (20+ colleagues) with an pre-set menu. The restaurant is big enough to accommodate large groups, but the noisy environment made discussions difficult. The food was ok, but felt a bit boring as almost all dishes in the sampling menu were on the spicy side (even the Cesar salad!).

This restaurant has great atmosphere and a fairly large bar area. It is one of the few restaurants in the Bay Area that serves "black pepper crab" which is a common dish in Singapore. They have a variety of other things on the menu that are fairly unique.

This place is amazing and is always a go-to restaurant when in Burlingame. You have to try the Chicken Satay Skewers...the spicy peanut sauce is amazing! Any of the seafood items you can't really go wrong with. The vibe in this restaurant is really inviting and the service is on point.

To night went to Straits with a friend for happy hour. It was Heaven, there are 3 or 4 Happy Hour cocktails at $6.00 and about 10 Items to eat. We had the Calamari and the Ahi Tuna on cucumber and one other dish that I cannot remember. The cocktails were very good and normal sized so you did not... More

Good place to eat with good bar drinks. The service was friendly and though parking is not readily accessible, public parking is a short walk from there.

The hostess was friendly and found us a quiet table that allowed for some great conversation, as the place gets loud in the main section. The waiter was very polite, attentive and quick. My drink was a bit delayed, b/c of the large party in the bar section, however, the food arrived on time. The drinks and the food were... More

Definitely for the foodie -- everything was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the Lemongrass Mojito, along with a nice selection of wines. The food was creative and delicious. From green curry chicken & veggies to whole fried fish - they take Asian Fusion to a whole new level. Definite "find" in Burlingame, highly recommend. A little pricey, but not over... More

My only serious criticism of Straits is the noise level, which even in the dining room, walled off from the source of the din in the bar, one is hard pressed to converse without straining the voice. That said, most of the dishes our foursome ordered on two nights were outstanding. The roti was the best flatbread I've ever tasted.... More
