My Fave Sandwich Stop

Fresh ingredients and great meatballs always sum up my visits. The pickles are great and this has become a must stop after stumbling across is 7 years ago. The service is quick and friendly and the soup is a must on a gray day.

Great sandwiches awesome value big meaty turkey sandwiches. Diced pickles tomato onion mayo sesame seed roll. Tasty meaty. Steak and cheese is mouth watery. Very resonable prices. Sell great pizza too. One in sunland sells beer just a heads up. One in Atwater doesn't and Atwater is cash only. Cards accepted in sunland. Very fast service. Great meal everything.

Small hole in the wall with a small kitchen with a stove and a pot sitting on it, but out of that pot comes some of the best pepper steak, they put it on a roll and the load the pepper steak on then the have large serving spoons and load the chopped tomatoes, pickles and onions at your choosing,... I LOVE this place, I have been going here for 40+ years. The same guys have been working there forever. It's all cash but they have an ATM located inside in case you don't have cash on you. They will even put your toppings on the side if you want. Don't forget to tip them a buck or two :... More

I have been eating at this restaurant since I was a small kid. Being raised in nearby Atwater, it was one of the first restaurants there. Basically, the sandwiches made them famous and the pizza keeps people coming back. The pepper steak sandwiches have always been my favorite, the steak is chopped up and comes with bell peppers (cooked) and... More

It's a great sandwich...I had the turkey with mustard and toppings. I have driven by this place for almost 5 years and finally had an opportunity to try it. It's exactly what I thought it was going to be. A delicious huge simple sandwich. Next time I want to try to meatball sub.

The tuna sandwich here cannot be beat! I order it with the works, which means chopped onions, peppers and tomatoes. They offer cheese, which I pass on. The roll is perfect and the price is right. They also have at least 5-6 other kinds of meat sandwiches, but I can't give up the tuna. They have chips and soda. Simple... More

This is a dive of dives. For many years it didn't even have a sign, it was a broken frame of a sign with nothing in it, and all of their business came from word of mouth. Looks like a little red house with a couple picnic tables on the patio. Even though it's now quite a drive for me... More

It's been a long time since I last visited Giamela's. Their pepper steak sub was a standout. I just tried it again. Nothing has changed...it's still the best. It's not fancy, just sauted steak heaped in a soft loaf the size of a submarine and loaded with chopped tomatoes, onions and pickles. Tempted to try the pastrami sub, which has... More

My daughter and I read the reviews and after touring Warner Brothers we were hungry. The outside of Giamela's is not so appealing and the inside not so much either but we decided to go for it. When in California....They have a very limited grinder menu but what they do is just amazing! They have two sizes. My daughter ordered... More
