I'm not sure what people were expecting. It's fine. Is it a top ten list steakhouse....no. Is it fine? Yes. Our group of 4 went there as part of a Sideways wine tasting tour. We all enjoyed our meals. The people who ordered the ribs had extras that they took home. Since we were wine tasting, I think I was... More

My husband and I went here knowing it had good reviews and wanted to check out the Sideways restaurant. It definitely lived up to our expectations! The ambiance is rustic and relaxed. We were there on the later side (9 pm on a Thursday) so it wasn't too crowded, but you should definitely make a reservation in advance. We had... More

I'll admit we came as tourists since we love the movie Sideways. I'm glad to check the box but doubt I'd return. We came in the early evening to do their wine tasting at the bar. The wines were good and server was friendly. It seems to be very popular with the locals and the restaurant quickly filled up.

Very busy and tough to walk in without a long wait. Looks too commercial but we were very pleased with all the food, but steaks are what they're known for. Our thinking is the reputation is deserved. It was also a very reasonable meal.

A very popular restaurant near Solvang, you will want to make reservations, especially on weekends. Meals are rather pricey, but you get a salad, soup and a side dish, and everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. You can bring your own wine but there is a $15 corkage fee. Service was friendly, and reasonably fast considering we were a... More

Really poor quality... Menu portrayed as gourmet dishes and gourmet best steaks, etc. Salad lettuce not washed... Grainy sand in it... Served with low quality dressings with no taste. The special soup of the day bean soup with pork tasted like a watered down can of pork n beans... Really! Filet Mignon steak had no taste, served on an empty... More

For a place that uses "Magic Stuff" on everything, you might hate it but it seems everyone loves to visit this restaurant featured in the film 'Sideways"- I was smitten, too, by the food! Excellent grilled artichoke appetizer, delicious fish entree and sides. Services was prompt and very friendly in spite of being totally sold out. Food is done on... More

An overpriced tourist trap. The Hitching Post is famous for being the center of the movie Sideways (one of my favorite films). But for dinner? No. First, the place is more of a place for "dinner" than for "dining". And when I pay $36 for an entree with a bill of over $100 for a dinner for two I expect... More

We dined here while touring the wineries in the area. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was packed. We each ordered different types of steak. They were all overpriced and not very good. The women's restroom is absurd. It has 2 "stalls" with shower curtain separating them. It is quite unappealing. Our server was good,... More
