By the outside you would not think the food could be as good as it is, so as the old saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover" is the case here. After spending a day in Solvang and eating every Danish type of food possible we decided we just wanted a good steak. Now there are two steakhouses... More

On our trip to the Santa Barbara wine country one of our "must-dos" was a visit to The Hitching Post. The owner of our B&B recommended that we go on a week night as it can get very crowded on weekends. The restaurant doesn't look much from the outside, but the inside is cozy and comfortable. We were shown to... More

The title says it all. The restaurant has a cosy feel to it. I like the fact you can see into the kitchen and watch the chefs in action. The artichokes to start were tasty, the steak was some of the best we've eaten and the dessert was also very good. We obviously sampled their famous Pinot noir and we... More

We were on a Santa Barbara wine tour and stopped here for dinner on our way out of Solvang. It didn't look much from the outside, but we had it on good authority that it was a great place for steak. And we were delightfully surprised. The decor is a little dated and the restaurant itself isn't that big. We... More

Great steak dinner and good selection of local wine. Always hesitate about restaurants made famous by movies but the food and service were both outstanding. The steak was tender, flavored well and cooked perfect!

Forget all the Sideways hype! Yes, you'll remember the bar from the movie, but after that... Come for old world, old school comfort. This is the place for world-class beef in the Santa Ynez Valley. We both had the filets, they were prepared perfectly! Also, try the Grilled Artichokes, very good! Great wait-staff, Sue was really funny, witty and very... More

This wasn't exactly what I expected. I expected a rustic atmosphere, but it was a bit dated. We did have a nice steak dinner and bottle of their Pinot Noir. We also had a grilled artichoke as an appetizer which was very good and our server was very friendly and attentive. You won't be disappointed in the food or service.

So many visits, so little time, but just enough to enjoy good food and good wine! Once again, another great evening with family and friends! As soon as you walk through the doors you feel at home! The bar is filled with locals and visitors from near and far all enjoying the casual and comforting atmosphere. It's 9pm and Frank... More

Went here to complete my wine movie locations trifecta. Had already been to Chateau Montelena (Bottle Shock) and Beringer (Walk in the Clouds) so a visit to the Hitching Post II(Sideways) seemed in order. Plus, I read the reviews online and was very excited to hear folks RAVE about the steaks as I'm from Iowa and had yet to experience... More

Prices were too high especially for 2 flights of wine. I mean come on $20 for two? And for a New York Strip $45? Just because Sideways was filmed here doesn't mean charge outrageous prices. Food was good though. Didn't see Miles, Jack, or Mya.
