Nice ambiance, spotty service

First, the good news. The restaurant previously at this location was an over-priced French place and it never seemed to attract a loyal clientele. First, the good news. The restaurant previously at this location was an over-priced French place and it never seemed to attract a loyal clientele. Red Ocotillo is a far more appropriate restaurant and is reasonably priced. I like the way it has been remodeled and the large windows can be opened to bring the outside in. Tables are generously sized... More

We had a nice dinner here with friends, and a week later returned with another friend so this review is based on two visits. Both times the service was good (only a reasonable wait) and the food uniformly good. It's a family restaurant with a menu of common dinner foods -- nothing exotic or super special -- but what came... More

Ate here on Friday for lunch. Good wings, little spicy. California club we split and just as well. Huge. Very good. Did carry out dinner Saturday night. Fried chicken was very good. NOTE: not my idea of "lightly breaded". More like thickly. Still very tasty. Sunday afternoon snack. wife liked the chili vent much. Guacamole & salsa was good with... More

I had the best bloody mary with my breakfast. I ordered the eggs and sausage. My husband had the pancakes, which looked huge and delicious. Service was excellent, even sitting outside. I would definitely return for any meal at the Red Ocotillo.

Finding typical American entrees in Borrego is pretty much limited to just a couple of coffee shops and a bar, until you visit Red Ocotillo. Breakfast choices include a breakfast burrito, but the rest of the meals are typical American fare, and they are excellent. One can get takeout, sit down breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is a small place... More

Red Ocotillo is a small, moderately priced place that has a good basic menu with some nice touches that you won’t find elsewhere in moderately-priced Borrego Springs restaurants. We had supper there once and breakfast a couple of times. For lunch or dinner they serve a great burger on a nice fresh roll, and don't miss the superb onion rings.... More

We had dinner and several lunches at the Red Octotillo during our recent stay in the area. Although food prep time can be a little long depending on how busy they are----the quality, quantity and presentation are well worth the wait. Perhaps the best turkey sandwich I have ever eaten.... And their mixed green salad is excellent. Our dinner selections... More

We are traveling through the area, so checked Trip Advisor and talked to a couple of the State Park volunteers to help decide where to have dinner. There wasn't a clear "this is a great place" recommendation, so we decided to give Red Ocotillo a try. We arrived about 5:30 on Friday evening. We seated ourselves and the server came... More

This place was delicious. It was adorable and clean, well decorated, and INCREDIBLY friendly. They had beautiful views of the surrounding area. The food was great and reasonably priced to boot.

Wonderful breakfast selection including pancakes, eggs Benedict and burritos with the scenery of the desert mountains all around. Tastfully decorated and with good facilities. Recommended.
