Here for lunch with friends and had my favorite dish of salsa verde enchiladas with ground beef, only this time a la carte. Delicious, as usual. Salsa that accompanies the chips is also good. Friendly service and good value. We will continue to return.

Loved Carmelita's. Great refried beans and Carne Asada. If you spend enough time in the bar, a couple of locals may try to ascertain your intentions. Life in a small CA desert town! Not awesome, but deserves #1 or #2.

They closed for August (wouldn't you? No business and its 111 outside)and came back with a new menu. The steak salad is absolutely great. It comes with a generous portion of pico de gallo and guacamole and all the usual options for dressing. I fine the dressing unnecessary as the pico and guacamole are just fine. The "build your own... Carmelita's is a casual Mexican bar-restaurant with a friendly vibe and a comfortable feel. Most importantly, the menu has plenty to offer all tastes and the food quality and preparation make for a fine meal. We always have one or two meals at Carmelita's when in Borrego Springs. Service is friendly and accommodating.

Very good food, very good service. Hard to find. It is on the back side of the shopping center by the Sheriff Department on the south side of the road.

This is our second trip through Borrego Springs and our second time at this very good Mexican restaurant. Prices are a little high but not unusual for California. Both of our entrees were excellent - chicken enchiladas with mole sauce were outstanding as were the shrimp enchiladas with verde sauce. A healthy portion of rice and beans came with the... More

The best that Borrego has to offer. Warm, personal service coupled with truly excellent food. The food is always fresh, delicious and "homemade" which is why it's the most crowded place to eat for miles. We always head here the minute we arrive in Borrego, and have been doing so for years.

The food was really very good with the Tortilla soup being the best of all. Despite being very crowded, the service was excellent, lots of help in the early evening. People were enjoying themselves. Nice, friendly atmosphere.

We love Carmelita's! We planned our 12 year old's birthday dinner there, reserving for the family (12). The staff could not have been nicer and more welcoming at a very busy time for them. The food was fresh, delicious (several in our group appreciate good Mexican food), and served quickly. The wait staff are over the top terrific. As we... More
