Great View with okay food

The location and view are the best part of restaurant. The food prices are on the high side, but overall food quality was slightly above average. The hot sourdough bread was excellent, but my crab sandwich was bland. I love crab which usually has slightly sweet taste, but this sandwich was... read more

We wanted a meal with a beautiful view & chose this restaurant exactly for that reason. We enjoyed our meal a lot, the view as well, and fine choice of wines. The service was slow but our waiter consistently smiled--which made up for the delay in service. We purchased some pastries from the bakery but the taste was just "meh".... More

Good location, short drive from a number of campgrounds in the area. Property includes fresh fish and crab sales as well as gift shop.

Good food, nice wine selection and a good waitress make for an excellent experience. We did however irritate the waitress who seated us as we wanted to sit somewhere else and that happened not to be in her section, she mentioned wanting to be fair, totally get that yet the customer should be able to sit where ever the customer... This was a day trip for the family. No one but myself knew where we were going. We live in Woodland, CA and needed to be near the ocean. I picked a spot on Google maps in the area and drove! The restaurant is in a great location looking out on the bay. The service was excellent. My girlfriend and... More

We eat at The Tides whenever we are visiting family in the area. The food & service is reliable. The staff can accommodate couples or large groups with efficiency. One morning there were 10 adults & 4 children under 4 yrs in our party and our server was in total control. The food is eclipsed by the view - fantastic--but... More

Good choice of seafood dishes, but huge portions. One starter between two is ample. The shop within the Tides also sells a variety of freshly caught sea food, including live crabs and lobsters.

Let's be honest: the reason to go to The Tides is because it was in Alfred Hitchcock's iconic film The Birds. It's not the best restaurant, or the best view, or the best value in town, but it has decent food and good service, a lovely view of the Bay, a large gift shop, a wine and food shop, and... More

We have been coming to the tides for many years and will not be returning any time soon. We normally frequent the restaurant and decided today to have a beer and check out the bar. First impression was not as we expected, we were not greeted but stared at for a moment by a bald smug bartender who may have... More

We always go here for their crab feeds; however, this year the crabs are not to be eaten. The answer is come up here anyway and eat fresh fish! We had a pasta with scallop and a fresh salmon dish. Very satisfying but will return for crab feed next year!
