Great Food

The place looks like a dump, but has absolutely great food, at a reasonable price. Order at the counter. No wine, but they have beer. Cash Only.

I did not have a chance to eat here because they do not accept credit cards. I never carry cash. The menu looked good. I was slightly disappointed.

Really excellent shrimp cocktail (forget how far from the sea they are; they must have a really good source, and this shrimp cocktail is wonderful!!!). HUGE, pretty much all the shrimp you could eat, and only about $8.25. And no matter the price, one of the best shrimp cocktails I've ever had!!! Definitely the best value, I've ever had, outside... Yes, the setting is a bit funky, often crowded, but delicious food and friendly, efficient service. We had two different burritos, one bean and cheese, a real staple and it was good. The other was nopalitos and beans and it was out of this world. Very reasonable pricing.

This is Mexican food, not Tex-Mex; and I love it! Yes, it is a hole-in-the-wall and that may scare some off, but I have to say just try it out! They have some of the best food and their chorizo burrito is the best I have ever had.

Driving on I-10 and looked on trip advisor for reviews. This had 2 good reviews and we like Mexican and off the beaten path. It was dirty.... filthy. Flies. Bullet holes repaired in windows. Mediocre food. Yes, its cheap with largish greasy portions. We didn't get food poisoning is the only plus.

Being from Texas we have high standards for Mexican food. This place surpassed all expectations. An order at the counter cafe with simple decor, but some of the best Mexican food. Awesome salsa bar with over four choices of yummy salsa to accompany the fresh, hot homemade chips delivered to your table. Love the street tacos, tostadas, and especially the... More

A hidden gem, La Paloma Cafe doesn't have great atmosphere or a great view. It doesn't have fancy menus or linen table cloths. What it does have, however, is great food at low prices. Combination plates start at under $5.00 for two beef or chicken enchiladas including rice & beans. Bean & cheese burritos start at about $3.00 and a... More
