The deli is fast with long lines. The bread is the tops!! Fresh baked and tasty. The sandwiches are made with farm fresh ingredients and made as you watch. There are choices of bread and all condiments. The place is jam packed with locals as well as tourists. I suggest going early for bread buying as everyone knows the most... More

I had to admit that I've never eaten at the deli in Schat's but I'm normally driving through early in the morning. I always stop when I drive through Bishop, and I always am tempted by all the goodies, and I always spend way too much money. BUT, with that said, I have to tell you...you can't find better breads,... More

Anybody who travels to Bishop should stop by this place at least to look around and take in the good smells of a bakery. Their food is very good but not perfect as some people gush in their reviews. We stopped in during our recent trip through Bishop and scored a nice turkey sandwich with some shortbread-chocolate chip cookies for... More

We visited this bakery on our way to Coronado and found it so good that we stopped going to CA and returning thru Bishop so we could stop on our way back to WA. The selections are many and are so good. The fresh made sandwiches are a treat especially with all the pastries to choose a dessert afterwards.

We had yummy sandwiches that we could have split just one. Lots of bread styles to chose from and some pastries. Brought home a bag full for enjoying later. So much better than a chain or fast food or the cooler in the back seat!

Huge selection of goodies. Quality rather "normal" and the place was over crowded. Servicepersonell could not cope to clean tables etc.. Looked somehow messy during our late afternoon visit

This place is always super busy when we come to Bishop. I finally stopped in, it was so crowded! I bought some pastries and of course the bread! I was surpised that they were just okay. Not excellent like I thought due to the crowds!

We stayed in Bishop for several days. We started our day visiting the bakery, which was the highlight of the morning. Everything tastes as good as it looks and as good as the bakery smells. Our children enjoyed Gelato for breakfast - the vanilla and chocolate chip were terrific. The churros were superb as was the very sourdough bread. The... More

Forget kid in a candy store. I want to be an traveler stopping at Erick Schat's on the trip down the 395. Racks and racks of bread and pastries about six feet high. Make sure to stop first at the Day Old room, and then look for whatever amazing things they have. We saw hot cross buns and Easter breads... More

It's impossible to drive by Schat's without stopping. They serve the best food available until arriving back in Los Angeles. The gelato tastes just like it does in Florence, Italy! The sandwiches are made to order with the freshest ingredients. Of course, there is always a long line. The baked goods taste better than homemade. The fresh squeezed orange juice... More
