The Fresh Bread that is baked here can be smelled as you walk up the sidewalk towards the bakery. The bakery has everything from bread, cookies, pastries, ice cream, candy, a deli with fresh made to order sandwiches. Must stop at Schats or you will regret it!

We popped into the bakkery to pick up pastries for breakfast, and were amazed at how many people were in the store. It is a full on bakery, with lots of choice, but it was packed at just gone 9AM on a Monday AM. We bought bran muffins (absolutely perfect) and pretzel dumplings (so soft, and light). I walloped down... More

It's not just a bakery, it's a tourist attraction! The way they display all the yummy cakes and bread and sweets, the amount of people waiting in lines to be served... It's Worth waiting for a custom made sandwich instead of grabbing one from the fridge! Delicious! I recommend the Mule Kick :)

Schat's Bakery in Bishop is a "must stop" for anyone driving through the town of Bishop. When you pull into the parking lot, you can already smell the bread (and the "sugar") wafting out of the windows and vents. This bakery is divided into 3 areas. On the left (as you come into the store), is the "bread" area. You... More

Do yourself a favor before you come and don't bring your credit card-- there are so many tempting goodies in here you may not be able to control yourself! This place was next to our hotel (the Creekside Inn) and always busy, so we decided to pop over and see what all the fuss was about. So glad we did!... More

I have been going here for over 25 years. Each time I drive through Bishop we make it a point to stop. It can be very busy at times but still worth a trip. I usually have orders from family members to fill when we do go there. The bread is excellent and always a must. My favorite sandwich is... More

This is a must when were in Bishop. This is not only the best Bakery Bread, but wonderful Sandwiches and all kinds of bakery items you could ever ask for. It is always crowded, but the lines go very quickly and it's worth the wait.

Erick's stuff is good enough to start with. But head round to the rear of the shop and you'll find the discounted goods which are still good to go at half the price. So of course we bought twice as much. Go figure.

Wonderful baked goods. be sure to get the Cinnamon roll and the Shepherds Bread. The cost is a bit touristy, but the value is there. Bishop is a big time fishing destination on the road between the Mojave Desert and Reno. I simply cannot think of any reason I will EVER go to Bishop, California again; but the town is... More

Twice a year we drive through Bishop California on our way to Mammoth Lakes. This is a "required stop" for us! Our favorite it Russian Raisin Pecan - which makes the very best raisin toast you've ever had in your life. We also love their apple fritters (when they still have them on hand -- they sell out quickly) their... More
