What is there not to like? They make everything taste soooo good! Try their cheesy bread or their sheepherder bread too!
Really impressed with the variety and quality of goods. Purchased several items with no complaints. The staff were really friendly and took the time to answer questions. It was busy, but not too crowded - it was snowing like crazy!!
This is a must stop when traveling through Bishop, they have the best bakery this side of the Sierra mountains.
This will be my regular stop when driving from Reno to LA. Had a wonderful lunch and purchased several fresh bakery goods. This place is one good reason to stop in Bishop, CA.
This place smells of sweetness two blocks away. Don't be countin' calories when you walk through the Entrance to Schat's. "Fuggeettaabboouuttiitt! Pastries, Sandwiches, & Pies to die for, and don't forget to take home a loaf of their "Original Sheepherder Bread"....UMMMMMM GOOD!

I have been driving through Bishop often since 1959. I don't think in the hundreds of trips through there I have failed to stop at Schat's Bakery. Do yourself a favor (and friends if you take their baked goods with you) - stop for a cookie, sandwich or whatever suits your fancy, you'll be very glad you did
Erick Schat's Bakkery (it is spelled with tho k's) is a real bakery with a wide selection of breads and pastries. The also sell a variety of sandwiches. My wife and I split a turkey sandwich on sheepherder bread--big enough to split with no problem. The turkey in the sandwich came from a roasted turkey not a processed turkey loaf.... More

All types and from all cultures, where bread and pastry mean something, from perfect cakes to amazing strudels, and of course the absolute high end honey and jams. Also worth it to try some of the epic sandwiches. Go in, but don't forget every bite... More
