Wonderful Breads, Pastries, and other treats!

This bakery had numerous breads in so many varieties. The pastries were attractive and beautifully displayed and quality eating. Indoor and outdoor eating. Totally enjoyed our time here!

Anytime we are on our way to Mammoth, we stop into the the Bakkery. There is so much yummy goodness here. Cookies, coffees, breads, pastries, sandwiches and jellies to name a few. This place is jam packed, literally. There is so much food on racks, add a couple dozen customers and the employees and there is hardly enough room to... More

The last trip we came up to Mammoth we had friends rave about this place. We didn't hit this one in Bishop and instead went to the one right in Mammoth Lakes and wasn't too impressed with that one. But this one is head and shoulders better. I assumed they were the same exact stuff but the food was much... More

On the way to Mammoth, We went to Schat's Bakery in Bishop. This is an amazing bakery with lots of fresh baked bread. I had the most delicious pastrami sandwich & my friends were raving about their turkey, tuna sandwiches. We bought some bread, jams, chocolate to take with us to Mammoth. The jalapeño cheese bread is hot!

Like thousands of other people, I have been stopping here for many years. Giving away my age, I have been stopping here since late 1970s. It is "the" place to stop for the millions of people passing through Bishop every year. The quality and taste of the bread, desserts, and sandwiches is exceptional. Problems with this place though is that... More

A traditonal stop for us on our way to San Diego from Idaho. The variety and depth of selections is amazing especially love the jalapeno cheese bread...always a delight! Additionally, I enjoy viewing the myriad pastries, so delectable and colorful. Samples are apprecaited. A must stop for the traveler....the aroma is divine!

Anyone who's ever driven Highway 395 from L.A. to Mammoth knows that Erick Schat's Bakkery is THE place to stop. I've been making that trip for over 40 years and it's always been that way. It's rare not to find Schat's with the parking lot full and a line coming out the door. Schat's is known for their homemade sandwiches... More

If you love breads of all kinds, fresh made sandwiches, cakes, cookies you have to stop at Schat's. It is quite busy but it is well worth your time. Chili Cheeze bread, sheepherder's bread, squaw bread. . . ! Amazing

Are first time on 395 from Kramers Corners to Reno. Looked at the reviews and needed lunch, so what the heck. Turkey carved from a WHOLE turkey, no mistry meat. Great bread. I had one of the best pastrami sandwich on rye I have ever had. The bakery was ahsome. The stop help make it a great road trip.

It's. Sort of a wow experience when you walk in the door of this bakery! Racks and racks of every bread you've ever seen and then some. They also make lots of cookies , candies and the usual pastries and some not so usual. You can order a sandwich or a small variety of breakfast sandwiches to go or eat... More
