While camping in the Bishop Creek area, scheduled a stop at Schat's for lunch. Line was long but it moved quickly. The Roast Beef on sheepherders was excellent. Tender, and rare the beef was delicious and the sheepherders excellent as always. My favorite is the Santa sandwich, Turkey, cranberry mayo but I thought it was time to switch it up.... More

It's crowded and noisy at lunch, but the sandwiches are worth the wait. Everything from breads to desserts are baked right there. Excellent!

We bought a palmier and some pecan cookies, both of which were excellent! We also got a fruit bar, which was good, and an apple strudel, which was only so-so (too gooey and not flaky). I like that they don't use preservatives in their goodies.

It was very crowded, no doubt because of the delicious goodies inside. The cafeteria style lines moved quickly because they have a large staff of people working the counters in both the bakery and sandwich counter. I will stop there again when traveling through Bishop.

This is a bakery to behold. Rows and rows of baked goods . breads, pastries, cakes and much more. And very tasty and high quality fare too. Well worth a visit if you are in or traveling through Bishop.

Lovely homemade sandwiches and breads and tasty bits provided. I only wish we had had a way of storing it as we would have bought more but due to travelling this wasn't possible.

We heard from a friend there was a fantastic dutch bakery in Bishop. As it was on our way, we stopped in this great place. It was huge, full of different kinds of bread and cakes. Not the tipical american style. We had a great breakfast here. It's quite touristic though, but a must if you pass by.

One of the only bakeries you can get San Francisco Sourdough bread without going there. Love this bakery everytime I stop on the way up to Tahoe. You must stop and try it, great homemafe chocolates and pull apart bread.

Quick easy breakfast. Very big selection of baked goods and some pre-packed sandwiches and salads. Got told off for taking a picture, but that was my fault - didn't see the sign that said no pictures.

Schat's is legend in the Sierras as the best bakery for hundreds of miles around and it largely upholds it's reputation. They carry a wide selection of breads, too many to name but several are truly delicious. They makes hearty sandwiches to order during certain hours and have packaged (but still fresh) sandwiches in a refrigerated case when the sandwich... More
