Great Food in a Surprising Location

When the front desk attendant at our hotel told us that the best place to get a steak in town was the bowling alley, I thought he was crazy. But, it turns out he was right! We went on a Tuesday night and it was packed! Every table was filled from the time we went in until we left. This... read more

This was fun and decent food but good grief - NO vegetarian options?? Maybe 20 years ago but really, it's not that odd anymore! But service was good and our waiter willingly shared some great hiking ideas with us....but c'mon guys, at least a portobello sandwich!

This was a locals recommendation and is located behind the Creekside Inn (where we were staying), an easy walk. It is a casual eatery located inside the bowling alley, so seating can be difficult on a busy night; we went early and by the time we left it was getting crowded. Ordered the salmon dinner and it had to be... More

Chose the Back Alley and happy we did! We had five in our party, and was able to get seated right away. We had the chicken salad, wings, burgers, a patty melt and chili. It was all very, very good!

I always think of a bowling alley as being beer and raucous behavior with not much in the way of decent restaurant food. How wrong that thinking would be for this restaurant. Located in the bowling alley in Bishop, this restaurant turned out to be a real gem. We were there on a Tuesday night, normally a quiet night for... More

Traveling through, inquired where we could get a nice steak. Surprised to hear that the "Bowling Alley" was the place. Clearly a hometown favorite. Busy but a well stocked bar helped to mute the wait. Patty was busy but got the job done. Give theBack Alley a try when in Bishop.

Great food, well priced with friendly staff. If you want something a bit different from the big chains/ rib restaurants, etc with some feeling that you are eating where the locals eat, then this is it. 10 x 10 pin bowling lanes here too!

We enjoyed our meal and who would have thought a bowling alley. The hotel suggested that we consider it. We enjoyed our meal!!!

Ok, when the hotel recommended I go to the bowling alley for dinner I was hesitant. Do not be fooled - that was some great food! I had the salmon and it was maybe a little over-done but very flavorful. It came with a side, some veggies, and a little piece of watermelon garnish. I was quite impressed. Only disappointment... Super good food in the middle of town. The characters in the bar were worth hanging out and the food was delicious. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and love that he is making Bishop a destination worth stopping for.
