The Golden Elephant just of the high st in Wheathapsted, herts. Parking can be a bit tricky so a space out front on main rd could be better. Warmly received when I booked a table and found staff attentive . Food was very nice as were the drinks, Prices were medium to high but you gets what you pay for. Overall... More

So since we moved to wheathampstead all everyone said was go to the golden elephant! And Thai is my favourite so we got a takeaway many a time and always perfect if a little spicy. Sadly my last green curry was submerged beneath 2" of oil 😟 I couldn't save it & it was so laced with chillies it had... More

This is a little Thai restaurant set in an old and quirky building up a lane at the back of the high street. The tables are well spaced and well presented. The food was very good and the sauce on the Massaman curry was delicious. The size of the portions was good. Service was slow. Prices are reasonable. The one... More

Seriously saddened by the demise of this little place. Had lots of great evenings there in the past but not at the moment. Last night we ate there and we had very good mixed hors deuvres but they were the highlight. Everything else was very ordinary especially the duck with pancakes and plum sauce. It was like water and almost... More

Dined here last Saturday as the wife wanted to try it out, the staff were all polite and the food alright but I couldn't really understand why there was such a delay between each course! I didn't want to end up staying there for the whole evening but by the time each course arrived I ended up leaving very late... More

this place needs a bit of a spruce up, the food is ok, nothing outstanding, place looks and feels tired, and could do with freshening up, such a shame as real opportunity to be decent, would not hurry back

My wife and I had another great evening meal at The Golden Elephant with friends yesterday. In addition to their usual menu, they have introduced innovative special dishes. My choice was Wasabi Prawns, king prawns fried in a light batter with a creamy Wasabi sauce, beautiful. Our friends ordered Sea Bass and Lamb chops coated in a very tasty sauce.... More

We visited here with friends based on recommendations and were not disappointed. The food was very good. So much so that we are still thinking about the wasabi prawns three weeks later! We took advice of the waiter and went for seabass, it was lovely. Overall I liked the way the restaurant was laid out, tables were large and spaced... More

I went with a large group of 12 to the Sunday Buffett, the service was quick and we were seated and served drinks in a reasonable amount of time, however unfortunately it all went downhill from there. We were brought starters to the table, mixed hor'derves. They were nice enough but a but plain and nothing special. Then we were... More

Took my Mum her for Mother’s Day. She takes her time eating and can talk for 10 mins whilst balancing a morsel on her fork. The staff cottoned on and we had a very unhurried time there. They were kind and considerate toward my Mum as she is disabled. The food was full of flavour and there was plenty of... More
