We had a party of 12 with 5 children and were given the upstairs room all to ourselves to celebrate my husband's birthday. The staff, especially Lynn was extremely accommodating and friendly. She made us feel as if we were in her home. The food was good with good sized portions. Unfortunately, most of our food was not hot as... More

Salad bar comes with meal, but it is really small and you are allowed one trip, so pile it high. I ordered a steak medium, it came out jerky. The server was nice and brought me out a piece of prime rib instead, so I could eat with my wife. They have George the ghost whom roams the place, they... More

Recently a friend and I went up to Big Bear Lake for an overnight stay. After we checked I to our hotel and relaxed a bit we were famished. We like to try new restaurants. So we had narrowed it down to three possibilities. We chose Captains Anchorage as they had dinner specials and we had been there before. When... More

We visited Captains back in November and we really enjoyed our meal. They have a great little salad bar and a good variety of appetizers and entrees. Unfortunately this time our service and meal wasn't as great as it was in November. I would definitely not recommend the bar for eating dinner, but it was a packed night and we... More

Good restaurant - consistent food. Great prime rib with all the fixings, including soup and salad bar. Good fish as well. Great old, dark bar with an impressive bar menu and great happy hour. We go there for our anniversary every year.

Walked in on a Saturday night at around 8:15pm but was able to seat in the upstairs dinning area. Lorraine was our server who took care of us really well. We ordered the 12oz Prime Rib dinner $30 paired with Remy VSOP for $9.50 and also the Prime Rib for kids for $10 which were as big as the adult... More

Atmosphere was very nice. We dined updtairs in a cozy nook for two. The cocktails were great. His shrimp dish was wonderful, salad was crisp. The clam chowder was lacking flavor as were the pork chops. Grilled chops without any sauce. A balsamic reduction would have been perfect. Service was great too. I would return.

My wife and I had dinner here this summer and we thought the place was lovely. This is like stepping back in time to another era. Don't expect the high end restaurant venue you would get in Los Angeles or a menu focused on the latest health trends (I try to eat very healthy but will stray from time to... More

Dinner was delicious, from fresh salad bar to Monday night special on Wild Alaskan Salmon. Decor/ambiance fun, true mountain style. Can imagine on a winter night with fireplace going.

Everything else, not so much. This restaurant, set in a large wood & stone building with a dark interior vaguely reminiscent of a ship's hold, specializes in traditional American fare, most especially prime rib. The menu is fairly expensive and everything comes with the soup-salad bar and bread, which you would think should mitigate the pain, however the salad bar... More
