It was a lovely Sunday and we decided to take a drive from Lake Arrowhead to Big Bear. After exploring the Keller Peak area we were hungry. Driving through the Big Bear are we passed a crowded Mexican restaurant call Azteca. My girlfriend and I were intrigued, but I decided to go on to the Village area of Big Bear... More

Had lunch at El Jacalito Grill in Big Bear on 10/24 and it was great! Nice outdoor seating area with shade, good for people watching. The chips were great (good seasoning on the chips) and we loves the different salsas at the salsa bar. I had the chicken tacos lunch special and my wife had the enchilada lunch special. Both... Wife and I had dinner here on Sunday night. Took a little while for our waiter to get his act going but he was ok. I had beef tacos with rice and refried beans. Beans were way over refried, tasted like paste. But mixed in some of the sauce and made them better. I would probable not eat here again... More

Nice place in a good location among shops and other restaurants. We had the chicken and veggie burritos which were very tasty and huge! Chips and salsa were great. Prices were fair too considering the area and how some restaurants tend to over price their food. Overall a place worth visiting if your taste buds crave Mexican food while up... More

This is a "decent" Mexican restaurant, good value and good food, not gourmet, good margaritas.... Had some decent tamales, which filled me up for lunch with the big margarita to go with it. My companions had the chicken tortilla soup (about 24 ounces maybe) and liked it, the ceviche (big pile of fish and shrimp, not enough heat). All the... More

I took my family to a late lunch at El Jacalito in July 2014. We found the experience to be average. The restaurant is located in the Big Bear Village, across the street from the Big Bear Brewery and the Peppercorn restaurant. The restaurant has a nice decor and good ambiance. The service was average. The hostess was friendly. Our... More

We have been here for the third and fourth time on this trip and each time has been the same....great. Great food, service and atmosphere. Tasty margaritas and a great selection of both the usual Mexican fare as well as some signature specialties. Not just another "Mexican joint" but a great menu with lots of variety.

Had dinner at the restaurant. Good is some of the best Mexican we've had. Portions are generous. Service is slow and not very attentive.

Margaritas were big and the shrimp quesadilla was absolutely delicious! And huge! Yum, I want one right now! Delicious salsa bar and of course always fun to be downtown Big Bear, cute patio and loads of hollyhocks, one of my favorite flowers!
