Food fantastic; larger tables would help

This is Nobu's historical location from what I learned. Our party of six had many dishes that were presented beautifully and shared among us. There simply was not room for the platters. This is Nobu's historical location from what I learned. Our party of six had many dishes that were presented beautifully and shared among us. There simply was not room for the platters. We were careful to order menu items in phases. The slivered artichoke was my absolute favorite. There is artistry here in every dish. Warm sake was very nice... More

I went solo on a Saturday night. Yes, I know. I sat at the sushi bar next to David and Victoria Beckham and their two sons. I only mention this to give you an idea of the clientele. The owner, Nobu was there. He kept asking while I waited if I knew it was a sushi bar when I requested... More

My dear friend treated 4 of us GFs to this famous sushi restaurant on my first day visit in LA. We had high expectations since they charged an arm and a leg. We ordered a variety of hand rolls, cold and hot dishes; unfortunately the sauce was overpowering and drowned the fresh fish. The best thing was the Nobu Sake,... More

This was the first Japanese restaurant I ever ate in back in the late 1980's. 30 years later its still pretty good.

As always the food is amazing, however, paying 180 dollars per person and leaving after an hour not totally full, hmmm can't say I'd go too often......

We tried to get into Nobu but it was booked. This place was suggested and boy was it a bad suggestion. It was the worst Japanese food the four people at my table ever tasted. The service was fine, the decor was acceptable and the crowd gave the place energy but rubbery octopus, tasteless tuna roll and rancid cod with... More

The reason this doesn't get a higher review is the value. I just think it is WAY overpriced for what you are getting here. We had a bunch of sashimi, and the black cod with miso. All excellent, fresh, well presented. But 12 pieces of sashimi, the black cod and two glasses on wine was $150. Pretty steep. I guess... More

I have eaten at Matsuhisa many times but never reviewed it. I am a huge fan - the sushi chefs are so creative and they try to help you try things you've never had. My favorite dish ever is the Halibut Tiradito - thinly sliced pieces of Halibut sashimi fanned out in a citrus juice. Crazy good. Also the rock... More

What happened?? Nobu was there and food was so plain. Plates were like white cafeteria plates, the presentation did not exist. Example, 2 Toro sushi, presented on a small plate, 2 pieces, that was it. Nothing was great and it was very rushed. It used to be our favorite Japanese place in the country. Not good. Resting on his laurels??

Staying in Beverly Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills began as a modest village years ago and today you can still feel its small town origins, even though it has become a major tourist attraction and business center for the entertainment industry. This town lives up to its reputation as an area full of designer retail stores and residential streets lined with mansions and palm trees. Inside the commercial center of Beverly Hills, along Rodeo Drive, droves of tourists peak into ultra-luxurious boutiques hoping to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Off of Rodeo Drive however is where some of the most affluent Angelenos occupying the streets of Beverly Hills come for leisurely meals, power lunches and beauty treatments.
