As a fan of sushi and all other Japanese food I looked forward to eating at this restaurant which I read so much about. I went with an associate and, as both being big eaters, we ate at least 12 different items which included sushi, specials, and two combination dinners. Whenever I am in Los Angeles, I have to go to Matsuhisa. It is simply the best Japanese restaurant in the world. I always eat the yellow tail jalapeno and the tuna tataki salad. Vastly overrated. Food was disappointing to mediocre. Would not go through the trouble to secure another reservation here. more
I believe this is the original Nobu and has a very similar menu with all the same signature dishes (black cod w/ miso, jalepeno yellowtail sashimi, rock shrimp, etc.). Despite the Nobu chain's growth during the last few years, the quality remains top-notch and I still visit Matsuhisa whenever I can. Highly recommended! more
High priced ... not so many good choices ... it is not about the fish ... it is about presentation and ambience ... if that is what you look for in food ... certainly not what we look for more
Very innovative Japanese cuisine. The Kobe Beef is to die for, but the sushi could be better. The other surprise was their dessert - the chocolate souffle in a bento box was unreal. more
