The entrees, seafood particularly, are very good, decent portions, however, they tend to be on the heavy side with roasted potatoes. Pastas are reliably good, but no standouts. There are not any main course salads on the menu if you plan to go here for lunch, and when I asked for a large, or double salad, the kitchen refused to... More

Good options for homemade pasta. Fig carpaccio app was excellent. Would have opted for a seat inside if we knew panhandlers would keep stopping and asking for money. 3 times within half an hour! Waitstaff made no attempt to deter their solicitation.

We had an early dinner, Carpaccio di Bue, followed by linguine bolognese and angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes and basil. Which we also had a bottle of Pinot Grigio - fabulous.

Great salads! Pretty consistent good food. But, be prepared to wait for a table. The place is always packed.

We love Il Pastaio and it's our go to for a relaxing weekend meal. Great staff, lovely atmosphere and authentic taste of Trastevere in every bite. Not a place for people who expect giant booths, birthday candles in a cupcake, or pizza. This is the real deal.

Every time we're in LA, we go to Il Pastaio. As another reviewer put it - they know their business. The service is great, the food - especially the pasta - is excellent, and the setting is dynamite. The last time there, they sat our table of 7, with no reservations on a Friday night, at a sidewalk table. It... More

I've been to Il Pastaio several times over the past 15 years and it's always been consistent: the best Italian food on this side of the Atlantic! We had the pasta with truffles and they were to die for. The artichoke salad was also incredible. The wine recommendation (a great Barolo) was also outstanding. The waiter was very knowledgable and... More

It is a very busy place, hard to get a table, the service is excellent, menu selection is great for anything you have in mind for. Food presentation is beautiful and great Sheff Jiacomino Drago's touch is superb! Try to sit outdoors if you can't stand the noise inside. Truffle plates are to die for and if you are in... More

I have been dining here since 1996. I appreciate the great food and the great service. This place is always busy. I often say that even with a 9.0 earthquake there would be a wait to get a table. In other words, it's worth the wait. In a city of huge egos to see them tempered for a chance to... More
