We ate here in April as part of our trip to LA. First off, the "food as art" concept here is FLAWLESS. The food is beautifully presented but thats about it apart from the dessert.....more on that later! The cocktails were good. We had the leeks, the wild mushrooms, the pork cheeks, the crab, and last but most definitely not... More

I live in the neighborhood and had tried Red Medicine a few times over that last year. Each time I've gone I'm not impressed and think "I'll give it one more try." Granted I've only eaten in the bar but have been told it's the same menu. I will say the cocktails are fantastic.

We opted for the 6 course menu with wine pairings. Each dish was like a work of art. One of the best food presentations I've ever seen (and I dine out A LOT). It was difficult to eat only because i did not want to break apart the food since it was so beautiful! We enjoyed the wine pairings as... More

I only had after-dinner cocktails and a dessert here, and wow, I wished I had eaten dinner here as well. I took one bite of the dessert (served in what looked like a mini-fish bowl) and immediately declared it the Best Dessert I Have Ever Eaten. Now, I'm not a huge fan of the over-the-top-sweet-death-by-chocolate kind of thing, in fact,... More

Went to this restaurant after seeing Toni Bourdain's Layover episode in LA and it did not disappoint. The decoration is dark, cool, ideal for a late dinner. The four of us shared the pork paté, the biodynamic leeks (awesome presentation), the chicken dumplings and the imperial wagyu beef brisket (a dish that comes with lettuce leaves and sides for you... The food was very imaginative. We had the tasting menu which consisted of 6 dishes. All but one was good. Didn't enjoy the toasted grains and cereals, thought it was a little dull. Wine list ok nothing great. Service was very good and atmosphere of the place was funky. Good night out

Someone said to us that this was a Thai restuarant. We later discovered that it was a kind of fusion place that tries to make each dish very artistic but it doesn't make for a very hearty meal. Some of the dishes were not really that tasty. The time taken for dishes to arrive is long. I am happy I... More

My wife and I had the six course tasting menu. Amazingly beautiful presentations but in my opinion the food fails at multiple levels--actually in my opinion at every level except for presentation. Too many of the flowers and exotic plant material used in many of the dishes had flavors that simply didn't harmonize with the other ingredients. This happened in... More

We were looking for a place to eat before a concert and found Red Medicine. We didn't know a thing about it. Soon we found out. The menu consists of many small plate dishes and our server suggested that we share 5 or 6. At the prices shown on the menu, that would have been about $100.00. We ordered 3.... More

This is a wonderful example in the trend to have food as a combination of food, art and science. Most of our menu items were incredibly creative, original and artistic. You would expect to pay more for it, and you do. The Brussels sprouts came out looking like leaves on Styrofoam packing pieces. The edible shrimp chips were hiding some... More
