Original Petes.

I am a die hard Pete's fan. This location is the original Pete's. Once you've had a Pete's coffee you wont go back to Starbucks. I find their brewed coffee too strong, but their Lattes are the best!

The first Peet’s store located on the corner of Walnut and Vine in the so called “Gourmet Ghetto” of North Berkeley. (Note that Peet's predates the now omnipresent Starbucks, and actually served as a model for that enterprise. The original Starbucks, so to speak.) Inside the store one can find some items about the history of Peet’s on display. Very... More

This is the original Peet's Coffee store. It has seating indoors and outside as well as the usual coffee and tea paraphernalia. It is located in Berkeley's gourmet ghetto and a great place for people watching.

The usual Peets fare, coffee, excellent teas and pastries. Now even have some savory salad and sandwiches. Great for people watching.

The original specialty cafe, where Starbucks founder got his training. Peets isn't as great as it was in the 70's, but is a million times better than Starbucks. And has an interesting little "museum" to Alfred Peet.

Mr Alfred Peet started the first Peet's Coffee & Tea in the early 1950s, modeled after historic Manhattan coffee houses... From early days to the present, he roasted premium beans, for longer than most others, which gave his coffee a strong, unique, nutty flavor. Another signature was light jazz background music... It took a very short time for the place... More

Peet's Coffed is a national treasure! Yes, Starbucks may be better known. So much for that! Peet's has ambience, character and fantastic coffee. This particular location, what is the first in the Bay Area, I believe, is so much fun. But beware . . . it's not for everyone, like my mum who doesn't much care for the long hair... More

Peet's Coffee in Oakland California an excellent option but a little unkempt! The coffee and sweets were excellent but there was a LOT of trash they had not cleaned up on the floor, which was a bit of a turn off.

Coffee lovers, this is the place. It was the first Peet's, and makes wonderful different coffees. It's a nice neighborhood, around the corner from the main part of "Gourmet Ghetto." There are also lots of regulars who come by and hang out.

I buy my beans somewhere else, but when I want a well-made capuccino or coffee con panna, this is the place to go.
