Gioia Pizzeria offers tasty fairly thin crusted pizza. You can buy by the slice or get a full pie. They offer a wide range of toppings. It's always busy in there, but they keep things moving efficiently.

Gioia Pizza and The Cheeseboard make the best thin crust pizza in Berkeley. Of course that's a subjective opinion but you won't go wrong at either location.

Rightly honored as among the very best pizzerias in the East Bay, or perhaps the West Coast, this small and pleasingly fragrant place is a magnet for any innocent passersby. My vacation landlord had recommended the Coffee and Cheese Market nearby, and after shopping there my nose led me right into Gioia. Although they prepare and serve a variety of... More

I was visiting a local and we had been shopping at the Monterrey Market and she suggested stopping off for a slice of pizza before driving back up in to the Berkeley Hills. Her parking karma had gotten us a space right in front of the place so after depositing the groceries in the car we joined the line. There... More

I visited this pizzeria for a few cuts or slices of pizza. I grew up on the east coast in Pittsburgh and we called slices of pizza cuts. On to my review. I had a few slices of sausage and found the pizza to taste very good but it was so thin that I could not pick up the slice... More

Gioia isn't bad as far as pizza goes - the pizzas (usually 5-6 different varieties) are interesting in a Cheeseboard-like way, but the slices are expensive and they don't make enough of each type. For example, once they run out of cheese pizzas for the evening (which typically seems to happen at around 6 PM) , too bad for you.... More

Gioia pizza is great. Like most of restaurants at Berkeley, the pizza it is carefully prepared with local organic ingredients. Though I really enjoyed it, the feeling was that it was overpriced for what it was. One high point is that they served Camanos Bros soda which I really liked.

Gioia's offers some of the best thin-crust pizzas anywhere. Innovative without being precious, fairly priced, and located in one of Berkeley's nicest neighborhoods: near Berkeley's best produce market and poulterer.

I love their pizza. Maybe a bit pricey but far better than the Chesseboard on Shattuck. I love the selection of vegetarian pizza. I have the mushroom pizza as recomended to me by a lady wating in line. I bought a whole pizza. Trust me it was orgasmic. why go anywere else this place is yummy. Make me think about... More

Thin crust pizzas (crisp & chewy crusts at the same time!) and an array of savory toppings is Gioia's signature style! Hot out of the oven, hefty slices are full of flavor! My husband and I never get bored with the Radicchio where the combination of the robust, hearty panchetta, the sweetness of the red onions, and the deep smoky... More
