Hidden away in West Berkeley, pretty gardens around it

We enjoyed a great post-holidays staff dinner at Riva Cucina. The service is attentive, but not intrusive and the food is not fussy; professionally and cleanly plated. The menu Features local, organic products. I love their panzanella (bread salad) and can't get enough of the tagliatelle bolognese, tender and fresh pasta, lively and flavorful meat sauce. Wonderful! We started with the Antipasto which was good variety. My wife had the Bolognese and I had the sautéed Alaska wild coho salmon with capers. Both cooked to perfection! They have an excellent wine list. This restaurant is a hidden gem!

We eat lunch here every now and then. Great food! Good service, small portions though compare to the price. The outdoor area is really nice and relaxing. Definitely the best food in the area! Would love to come back after work hours to try the food with a glass of wine.

Absolutely wonderful meal with family & a friend! Nice, but smallish wine list (no booze yet) with excellent food. Risotto was great as was the scallopini. Excellent service.

This restaurant, tucked quietly away on a dead end street just a few blocks past Berkeley Bowl West, is a treasure! It was our first time there tonight, but it sure won't be our last. Every bite was a beautiful burst of Italian flavor. I'm not kidding you when I say this was the best meal I've had in Berkeley... More

Setting: Somewhat hidden in the Berkeley Aquatic business park center. Industrial with high ceilings on the inside. Nice outdoor seating. Parking could be a challenge during the week in the business hours. Food: Italian - Berkeley style with focus on local and organic. Very nice set of starters with cheese, day boat scallops. As main dish different kinds of pasta... More

My wife and I have been to Italy many times, and had the opportunity to live in different regions of Italy for extended periods of time. We certainly enjoy Italian food, and the often underappreciated regionality of food in Italy. My wife had been to Riva Cucina for lunch on several prior occasions. I had never been. As a result... Great little spot to find online! My wife and I went here this past Friday right before the Alvin Ailey ballet. It was awesome! We were the first to arrive so we received a lot of attention. The food from the appetizers down to the dessert were well prepared and delicious. The price was reasonable, too. Although, we did share... More

Tucked away in an industrial and artists loft area is an authentically Italian restaurant with cooking by an Italian chef. Having travelled in Italy on several occasions, I can say the food is very similar in the admirable simplicity and quality experienced there. The space is calm and quiet enough for easy conversation, and an outdoor table on the loading... More

This restaurant is off the beaten path, in an industrial area just north of Ashby. It is owned by a young couple - he is in the kitchen, she runs the front of the house. The restaurant can be noisy, so ask to sit in the little curtained off area on the south side of the restaurant. The food can... More
