Very classy atmosphere in an old updated industrial building. Georgia, our server, was very friendly and helpful in describing the various appetizers and other dishes. She was right on about the wonderful scallops. Everything else ordered did not disappoint and the bottle of wine ordered was reasonably priced. A private room separated from the main dining room with a velvet... More

A great restaurant in a mixed-use, redeveloped neighborhood. Riva Cucina is located on the ground floor of a 1930's factory building near Berkeley's Aquatic Park and the old Heinz factory. The ambiance is very nice and the service was wonderful. The food was well plated and more than reasonably priced. We had a very tasty meal and the placed must... More

Riva has become one of our favorite restaurants. We have been there for lunch as well as dinner and the food is consistently great. The porcini and ricotta ravioli sautéed with brown butter, sage, and parmesan is one of the tastiest dishes I've had. The service is excellent and the wine list is reasonably priced and well selected. It's a... More

I was there on a weeknight, and when I arrived there was only one other customer, which gave me a little concern, but within 15 minutes, the place was full. While I felt the portion size was a bit small, the flavor was fantastic! Good service and a nice atmosphere made for a great evening.

Slightly outside the city centre, but it worth absolutely the 14 miles drive from Nob Hill. To me is one of the best italian restaurant outside Italy of the world. Massi, the owner/chef, is really kind and stops to say hello to each table. Prices more than reasonable: 23 EUR for a branzino (sea bass) which is enough for two.... More

I stopped by the Riva Cucina and it always offered to me the perfect sensation to be like it was in Italy: perfect salads, gorgeous pasta, tasty stuffed pasta like ravioli and in fall seasons my favourited: cappellacci, made with pumpkin inside. Orgasmic. Chef Massi and all the staff are always very kind and professional, it's a must be while... More

Came here for dinner on a week night after reading some Yelp reviews. The foods are pretty good and prices not too expensive. Because it was a weekday, the restaurant wasn't very crowded. It's not a fine dinning restaurant, but they do have the quality like one but at a much more affordable price. Strongly recommend this place for great... More

Lovely interior space in a "industrial " location. Excellent selection of dishes including glten free pasta dishes. Great service all around. Good value compared to other upscale Berkeley restaurants. Also a wine list that is diverse and won't break the bank.

The Bay Area is filled with food choices. They say that in New York is centered around money, Washington around power, and the Bay Area around ... food! So there is lots of competition. But even in this hothouse of food, Riva Cucina stands out. In an unprepossessing building in the Berkeley flats, convenient to the freeway, run by young... More
