We got here before they opened, went across the street for coffee, returned ten minutes after the opening time and had to wait because they were full.... If that's an indicator of the popularity of this place, it has to be good. Our wait ended up not to be very long and was worth every bit of it for the... More

While watching Check, Please! heard about Angelines Kitchen. Decided to visit this restaurant partly because the food sounded great, and because it is within a 5 minute walk from the Berkeley BART Station. The atmosphere was inviting (music good but not so loud as to drown out conversation), seating is fine (I personally hate emulating a mountain goat to climb... More

Having just experienced JazzFest again, I decided to check out Angeline's. The Fried Chicken Po'Boy was huge, juicy, and flavorful and the side of Red Beans and rice was tasty and plentiful. Nice selection of Louisiana staples (plus Abita beer) on the menu, but I was disappointed not to see fried green tomatoes listed. Service was good when I ordered... More

The fried chicken tenderloins are great, but tell them to put the gravy in a separate bowl. I don't know what it was for.....the plate has great fresh green beans and a sweet potato mash......what is the gravy for? Others enjoyed the mixed grill and the shrimp po boy, but they also agreed that their potato salad was bland an... More

My Sweet Tea was never empty for more than a minute. Gotta love that. Chicken was tasty and didn't leave me groggy. Sweet potato mash was great. Everyone looked like they were having a good time.

Our family ate here on a whim in July. We arrived around 4:00 PM and we were seated very quickly. The food selections are well rounded for all tastes. The fried chicken and the macaroni & cheese were great. Nice dessert selection as well. We were lucky enough to be seated along the front window so we were able to... More

Absolutely delicious food, great ambience and awesome service! Try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and the Fried Cheese Grits! Swamp water is tasty, but only one glass, very sweet!

The space is great for small or large groups, comfortable and cozy. The have interesting beer and average wine. So it has to be about the food. So here goes, my gumbo was good but not show stopping. The salad with candied pecans were excellent, good starter. I thoroughly enjoyed by shrimp creole which is why it gets a very... More

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Angelines. The service was great and very accomodating with some dietary issues of my husband. We had the fried chicken and the fried catfish. Huge portions with yummy sides of green beans, sweet potato mash, potato salad and hush puppies. Think next time we go, will order entree to share and a salad.... More

I did find the food very average, heavy, but with good flavors, service and reasonable price. I had gumbo and my companion ordered chicken pasta. The ambience is very casual and the plates are big. I will probably explore other restaurants in Berkeley next time
