Good Food, Good Service

This is a cool place. You will probably have to wait to get in but the food is amazing. I want hush puppies at very meal from now on. It's on Berkeley's main drag - Shattuck - so you may have some panhandlers asking for cash while you wait but there's no agro. This is New Orleans food at its... More

My wife and I have visited New Orleans, eaten brunch at Commander's Palace, dinner at Brennan's, and of course morning Beignets with the coffee at Cafe du Monde, as well as various other places, and loved it. That was probably 10 years ago, maybe more, long before I wrote reviews for TA. So I have valid points of reference. While... More

Well, being from the south and well acquainted with Cajun vs creole cuisine, frequent traveler to NOLA, and married to a coonass (someone from Cajun country)...this is good for being in Cali. Having had and cooked authentic home cooked Cajun and creole cuisine this was pretty good. The Gumbo had a very nice brown roux. I had a cup of... More

You can find good hush puppies, jambalaya (warning, heat level 5 out of 10) voodoo shrimp, and beignets right here. Did I mention that they were all delicious?

I loved the converted location. It was noisy and the tables are small but it had a fun flavor. The waitstaff was so-so. They came by but I would not call them attentive. The gumbo had good flavor but not as many veggies and meat bits as I was accustomed to. The hush puppies are dense but good. They only... More

I love Southern Creole cuisine, especially fried chicken and gumbo. Several years ago, when Angeline's first opened up, I ate there and loved it! It was truly a unique experience. Not quite as good as New Orleans, but almost. Two weeks ago I again visited Angeline's after seeing Jurassic World. Truth be told, the fried chicken was overcooked, unfavorable and... More

This was our 2nd trip to this restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience again. Our group enjoyed sharing the hush puppies and gumbo to start, and the main meals also. Fried chicken, Jambalaya and catfish were enjoyed by all. Pecan pie was the finish. Great night, great food and great service. Fun environment

The food was very good but I must admit to being a little disappointed. My mom's family is from Louisiana and I lived there briefly. Angeline's food was good but not what I hoped for. I was so happy to get hush puppies but I like them with bits of sweet onion, and then paired with Tabasco. I'd hoped for... More
