......then try Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen in Berkeley! I had the Voodoo Shrimp, Abita Root Beer (which is actually made in Abita, Louisiana) and Beignets for dessert! Yum! The food was great and the waitstaff very friendly. In addition, there is Cajun music playing in the background while you dine. I would definitely dine here again on my next trip back... More

Love this place and a fun place to take friends. The first time I went was with a friend when we were looking for a place to eat before seeing a movie on Shattuck. Have gone many times since and am never disappointed. I love visiting New Orleans and was happy to find Angeline's. Went for the fried catfish, spicy... More

I have very limited exposure to Creole style cuisine so perhaps my expectations were wrong, but I was hoping for some heat somewhere and found none. The Brussels Sprouts were nicely done, if a little salty for me. I went with buttermilk fried chicken and while it was nicely prepared, the batter had no seasoning at all - I was... More

I visited Angeline's with a friend. Since I am not that familiar with Creole food, I decided to go with something standard. I ordered the Gumbo, which is basically a spicy soup with rice, sausage and shrimp. The Gumbo was remarkably ordinary. I usually have a large appetite but I could not bring myself to finish it. I also ordered... More

Essentially New Orleans! The Decour fits the food and the food is exactly what you would expect from a terrific New Orleans restaurant. We did a walk up for four on the afternoon of a University of California football game. The wait was only 20 minutes, just enough time to go across the street and get a Starbucks. We ended... More

Have tried many dishes on Angeline's menu and they have all been excellent, but I always return to the fried chicken, my husband loves the gumbo and the red beans and rice, and my son has his favorite too - the jambalaya. We always start by sharing the hushpuppies - yummy comfort food. Two drawbacks - It can get a... More

We got here before they opened, went across the street for coffee, returned ten minutes after the opening time and had to wait because they were full.... If that's an indicator of the popularity of this place, it has to be good. Our wait ended up not to be very long and was worth every bit of it for the... More

While watching Check, Please! heard about Angelines Kitchen. Decided to visit this restaurant partly because the food sounded great, and because it is within a 5 minute walk from the Berkeley BART Station. The atmosphere was inviting (music good but not so loud as to drown out conversation), seating is fine (I personally hate emulating a mountain goat to climb... More

Having just experienced JazzFest again, I decided to check out Angeline's. The Fried Chicken Po'Boy was huge, juicy, and flavorful and the side of Red Beans and rice was tasty and plentiful. Nice selection of Louisiana staples (plus Abita beer) on the menu, but I was disappointed not to see fried green tomatoes listed. Service was good when I ordered... More

The fried chicken tenderloins are great, but tell them to put the gravy in a separate bowl. I don't know what it was for.....the plate has great fresh green beans and a sweet potato mash......what is the gravy for? Others enjoyed the mixed grill and the shrimp po boy, but they also agreed that their potato salad was bland an... More
