The line for this place can be super long. It is not really worth the wait. But it is definitely an interesting place to try at least once (only if the line is short). Some of the flavors are just strange

Long line but that was entertaining Met some neat souls while waiting my turn. I got honey lavender and it was worth the wait I'll try another one before I leave the area

Why in the world would anyone choose to wait in a line on the sidewalk next to a velvet rope for a scoop of ice cream?! I suppose curiosity killed the cat, and this place sees a lot of cats. The ice cream is average, at best...too sugary sweet without much flavor. The faux froufrou decor is neither comfortable nor... More

I honestly do not understand the appeal of this place. I've now tried Ici twice, joining the ever-present line which moves pretty slowly, but that's ok, as it does give you the opportunity to peruse that day's selection of flavors. And the flavor combinations are very interesting and unique which is, I suppose, one thing that keeps people coming back.... More

You'll find Ici Ice Cream by following the line down the block! The shop is tiny, but the staff is friendly. They have some bizarre-sounding flavors that are sure to bring a memorable ending note to any evening. And since you're probably not familiar with their flavors they are very accommodating and offer lots of free samples. I wish I... More

The proprietors let you taste test any flavor(s) before you purchase. All organic, local frsh ingredients. I grew up on a diary farm in Ohio and we made homemade ice cream in an electric crank ice cream freezer using slat / ice and whole fat raw milk. This ice cream is just as good (almost!). Yes, you'll probably have to... More

I am very picky about ice cream, and even make my own sometimes, but the ice cream here is unbeatable and unforgettable. Sometimes these gourmet shops have flavors that are just trying to be different, but don't taste all that good-- quite the opposite here. Every flavor we tried (party of 9) was delicious, different, memorable.

The servings at Ici may be small, but they're so worth it. Alice Waters' flavors are lovely and unique but not overbearingly crazy. (Not that crazy is bad. I'll have Humphrey Slocombe's Secret Breakfast any day.) I had Honey Sunflower Brittle and Orange Rosemary Toffee, and eating it was something like soaking up a warm ray of sunshine or sitting... For all you ice-cream afficionados the Ici Ice-cream Shop is a must-do for those of you travelling through the lovely town of Berkeley, California :-) They make new limited-quantity flavors on a daily basis, from locally-sourced (and often organic) ingrediants. My favorite was Rasberry Swirl Balsamic Vinegar (Peanutbutter Chocolate Swirl and Meringue was a close second!). If you stop by... More

On a visit to the SF Bay area, I went to Ici and stood in the long line behind the rope. Wait was 20 min. when it was 75 degrees outside. The flavors were different, yet familiar. I had a coffee chip ice cream that was above average, but nothing to scream about...maybe a small "yip". I'd wait in a... More
