A cozy booth for six to celebrate our UC Berkeley grad. The staff were so gracious, even timing dessert after we ordered so we could have coffee first while opening gifts and cards. The meal was all we could have hoped for - but there really should have been at least one purely vegan option. Simple items like carrot soup... More

Went here for a family celebration lunch, superb service. The quality of the food in beyond comparison, simple flavors that well pared for the best experience possible. Lunch was a mix of business and pleasure. Dressy casual atmosphere.

Everything is simply perfect, the food is so fresh and delicious, the ambiance SO Berkeley ;) and the service impeccable. We went with our one year old, and they have a member on staff who is dedicated simply to entertain children, go for a little stroll around the restaurant, look at the wood burning oven, etc, to let the parents... I'm not sure I can say anything about this great restaurant than has already been said. I hadn't been there in awhile so wasn't sure what to expect...I'm happy to report that Chez Panisse is basically unchanged and is as wonderful as ever. The ambience is somewhere between casual and formal....lots of natural wood which creates a comfortable feeling. My... More

Eating at Chez Panisse has been on my bucket list for a longtime. I finally made it there for lunch in the upstairs Café. I probably don't have much more to add to all the paeans everyone else sings about this place. Needless to say, it was one of the best (and most expensive) luncheons I every had. But, it... More

We were at the Cafe upstairs and the service and food was simply perfect. Have never been so well treated before. If you are in the Bay Area, go to this place!

Chez Panisse never disappoints with its simple, yet elegant menus that are always freshly prepared. When it first opened this cuisine was a forerunner of new cuisine. It is still good just not as unique as it once was with many fine restaurants offering equally good cuisine.

Coming from Japan, a country of fine dining and food, I always lower my standard when eating out in America. Chez Panisse gave me a pleasant surprise. I've often betrayed by a chef or restaurant with own theme of "inspired" or "creative" in America, but Chez Panisse didn't betray me. Very fresh salad which really taste like "vegetable". Meat also... More

Lovely setting (especially like the front room; seems quieter), delicious fresh food and locally-sourced, attentive staff. Since moving to Berkeley, we have eaten here about four times and it's been fantastic each time!
