My review says it all! The food is exellent , but it is the thoughts behind the concept that impress me. Alice Waters is so ahead of what real qualitet is when it comes to food and all around that! Envirementally so aware! Love it! A fantastic evening with good friends! Would love to go there again!

It is amazing how much of what we take for granted these days started here : exceptional dishes highlighting local and seasonal products, welcoming and attentive service, and all at a very reasonable price point. The distinctive dishes really let every ingredient shine -- even the butter for the bread was remarkable. As someone who loves food, this was a... More

Chez Panisse Café's Disappointing Averageness Chez Panisse Café coasts in the slipstream of its legendary parent restaurant situated downstairs, and the two of them together on the much flaunted concepts of "California cuisine" (itself pioneered by their creator, Alice Waters): seasonal, fresh, local produce, passionate search (foraging) for groceries of exceptional quality. Yet, quality of produce cannot by itself make... More

We made our reservation a month in advance, as directed by the web site. Our choice was the café as there can be no changes made to the menu in the main dining area on the first floor. Had to do this as I have a food allergy. We were not disappointed. I chose the prix Fixe of the night... More

I have been here several times and the experience is always worth the trek to Berkeley. The service is spot on and the menu always presents a challenge to decide on what to order. I had the hand made noodles with the mushrooms recently and the dish was delicious.

1. The "arts and crafts" interior warm and inviting as was the staff. 2. The Cannard Farm Rocket and Gypsy Pepper Salad was the epitome of "farm to table".$10 3. I loved my Rigatoni Alla Norma with Bob's Eggplant. $20 4. In terms of wine. It is hard to get a good Zinfandel outside of California, The 2012 Chez Panisse... More

Have heard about this restaurant for years. Finally had the opportunity to visit. A real gem. The food was perfect and ambience, casual but elegant. The service was superb. Friendly, but not overbearing. Will go again next time I'm in Berkeley

We were a group of eight, with one vegetarian in the group. Our table was a little snug but still comfortable, and the service was excellent. The food was exquisite. Unpretentious and deceptively simple, each course offered incredible flavours and textures. The clear broth soup with beans and nettle agnolotti was declared one of the best soups any of us... More

Last night I returned to Chez Panisse with friends, and we enjoyed a marvelous fall meal made with local fresh ingredients. For those of you new to this restaurant, it is important to understand its history and how it fostered the dynamic food revolution. We have Alice Waters to thank for the explosion of organic farming, and the importance of... More

Well - nothing to say but superb, superb, superb on every front. Hadn't eaten here in decades but it's still the great Chez Panisse. Perfect food, tip-top service, beautifully decorated room. My wife and I loved our meal and can't wait to return on our next visit to Berkeley. And not over-the-top expensive. Don't miss this place.
