Great food, great service

Very nice late dinner! Food was tasteful and well presented. The service is impeccable. I could only complain about a too salty duck confit.

Long famous as the U.S. farm to table movement starter along with slow food appreciation, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the veggies delicious. But it is not solely for vegetarians as meat is served as well. What I did find surprising was how fancy everyone was dressed. The food may come from the farm but this... More

We traveled by public transportation from SF to Berkeley, then hiked up the street to Chez Panisse, and it was totally worth it. The meal was certainly unique and delicious in every way, and the service was attentive, friendly and informative. I was happy to fulfill a long-held desire to visit this restaurant; my expectations were exceeded. Especially enjoyable was... More

Had dinner on a Saturday night in the cafe with my two teenage sons. While the food was fabulous, I was most impressed by how much the boys enjoyed every single thing on their plates, including EVERY VEGETABLE, no matter how green. This must be the way food was meant to taste. The kids have a fairly broad palate, but... More

We were in Berkeley for the 4th of July and were only able to get a reservation (plan ahead if you want to go!) for the last lunch seating in the cafe. So we had lunch at 3pm. It was a fabulous lunch and a splurge. Lunch for three of us, including a glass of wine each, was $165. More... More

Chez Panisse, is well Chez Panisse and one of the best restaurants in Berkeley/ san Fransisco area. It is the best organic and local food you will get anywhere. Alice Waters taught Americans about eating organically and locally. I had a pizza appetizer with halibut brandade that was fabulous. My Entree was a delicious Salmon with cherry tomatoes and green... Still one of the top restaurants, providing a great meal and excellent experience, but not quite up to previous standards. The set menu changes daily and is posted on-line. On our visit, the two main courses were wild king salmon cooked in a fig leaf and Wolf Ranch grilled quail. Wine pairing is available but there is also and excellent... More

We made our reservation a month in advance for 3 people. A few hours before arrival, one in our party got sick. We arrived and informed them that we were 2, not 3. They graciously escorted us to a fabulous corner table for 2. We knew, of course, that they had not planned to seat us there. The food was... More

If you want to be astonished by how good simple things can taste, you need to go to this place. They look for that one special good tomato or chicken or salmon and turn it into a divine dish!

I wondered if this iconic restaurant would still be excellent. Yes it is! This was a wonderful experience! A delicious meal with lovely service in an attractive restaurant with prices that were not crazy- All Good. I know the emphasis is on fresh, local foods but still the vegetables especially were a surprise. They were not just an "add on"... More
