Another year and more meals at Saul's. Always a good option for breakfast or lunch. I wish the toast was better. I will return with back in Berkeley.

I know Jewish Deli's and this is not one. The Chicken soup would be good if they used real chicken. It tasted like yellow dish water. The portions were small for the sandwiches, not even close to what you expect from a deli. They had to reheat my dessert which to me yells stale. All in all if you want... More

First, the sandwich portions are HUGE. They make a killer pastrami. Good pickles....which is important......and, I love their brownies. They are a steal at 2 bucks. Bottom line: A groovy neighborhood hangout to grab some good, old fashioned, the hell with the caloric intake, food.

This place is great! I went here with two friends on a Sunday afternoon. They were busy, but the wait for the restaurant was only about 15 minutes. The food was wonderful: great deli sandwiches and the dessert special was a delicious chocolate chip bread pudding. The service was also very good. Our waitress was very friendly and graciously listened... More

The place was very cozy so we enjoyed our dinner. It is located along Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley. There are paid parking areas in front of the restaurant. We ordered Reuben and Beef Brisket sandwiches while we listened to a pianist play several love songs. We would recommend this place to our friends since the food were very delicious and... More

Terrific place to enjoy matzoh ball soup, hungarian stuffed peppers, all the kosher meats you can dream of in black bread sandwiches, and a lot more. If in the mood, this is the place to enjoy.

We thought this would be a good place to meet some out-of-town relatives who were passing through Berkeley. They had been to Saul's once before, not too long ago. We had been there many, many years ago, not too long after it first opened, and really enjoyed it. It turned out that my memory of the place didn't match the... More

So we had 2 sandwiches that were okay, not loaded with meat or anything else. Accompanied by an iced tea and a Dr Brown's Cherry Soda. So this was $36.00? Yes, it was. Next question: was it worth it? NO! Never been here before yesterday. Was there twice; for the first and last time. How do they get away with... More

Went there for lunch & then breakfast the next day. The latke are wonderful. The corned beef is so so but the chopped liver is the real thing. Great atmosphere, good service. Tempting baked goods which are actually as good as they look. Definitely a keeper.

There must be enough New Yorkers and Jews in the Bay Area to support a more New York style Jewish Deli. Saul's is not it! We go there because we are a people forever questioning, "Can it get worse?" Go to Saul's, and if you can get past the BIG picture of Nelson Rockerfeller in the entrance hall, listen to... More
