Good Dosas, Reasonable Prices, Quick Service, Very Noisy!

A sit-down, fast-food Indian restaurant near University & 4th St. in West Berkeley, close to Hwy. 80. We've been going here for over a decade for the South Indian dosas (sometimes spelled dosais). They're huge, semi-crisp savory crepes filled at the center with one of 2 veggie curries & served with... read more

Family likes this place. You need to be prepared for crowds. It is a cross between a cafeteria and a diner. Somehow you order and then look for a table (stainless steel) and wait until your name is called with the hot food. It is worth the hassle. We ask to go there whenever we reach Oakland. Just be aware... More

I have tried many Indian restaurants, chaats and cuisines. By far, I would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to the Bay Area. The Channa Masala is one of the best I have tried while the Pav Bhaji is my second. The food will really satisfy your hunger! The level of spiciness is easily bearable by anyone. The quality... I went with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. It was delicious, though quite busy. Not a place to sit and do work, but great for a family food outing.

I love the ambiance, food, and spirit of this cafeteria style Chaat Restaurant. I generally stick to the curries and breads, but always leave room for the tasty Indian desserts. Cheap prices, as well as a store with an ample selection of Indian foods and spices is next door.

Could not resist a return visit after 6 months and I'm glad to say it's all pretty good - the formula works well.... the dishes remain much the same and the daily specials are worth checking out. Loved my favorite lamb somosas and sauces, tandoori chicken, mango lasso and fabulous breads. Friday was supposed to be fish day but somehow... More

This is a good Indian Chat house and as good as it gets. Just try once and you will be hooked. The Chenna Batura was good. Slightly mild for Indian taste yet nice and spicy .

During week ends, you get dosas, utappam, Idli, Paratha, Pav Bhaji, Dhokla and other non-veg stuff. You also have Chaat menu. Uttappam was good, Dhokla was so so. Every one liked Chaat menu. But the best of all is Kulfi Ice cream. I will definitely visit again for kulfi

I loved the experience here, go to counter, wait, order, sit, order called and you pickup. Large space, noisy but fun. People love to share here. Food was fun but not over the top great. I'd go back if I was in the area and needed my India fix.
