You will feel like you're in India when you enter this spot through the Indian grocery in the front. Place your order from the large menu of exotic dishes and wait for your name to be called while people-watching and listening to the musical variety of languages being spoken. Yummy taste treats.

Ultimately, what do you want in a restaurant? Great food. The atmosphere, other people, prices, location, and cleanliness all matter too, but ultimately we go out to eat to get food served to us. Vik's serves it up consistently, in decent amounts, at a good price, and with an interesting, though basic ambience. We have gone there a couple of... More

Tasty Indian small plates street food makes it possible to try many things. Even desserts. Cafeteria style and crowded during lunch time!

Vik's is definitely a unique dining experience, but one you should definitely try! The food is pretty good -- spicy -- but it's more the method of service. It's basically like a cafeteria: you order, find a seat, and wait until they call your name. You then go and pick up your food, and dig in! I split three dishes... More

Went there based on previous reviews. Food was below average, atmosphere not nice at all and prices not low. No reason to go there, I will not come back. So many better restaurants in Berkeley!

This old favorite must be visited every once in a while, Chhole-Bhatura continues to be peerless, samosas were also good, But prices have gotten a bit much. So we will have to find other places.

We went to this place on two separate Saturdays, once in October and once in November 2014. This is basically a fast food joint where you stand in a queue, place your order and wait to be called from the service counters. It has several tables and seats, but quite noisy. The choice of food is good and the taste... More

Although this place has gotten fancier over the years and now has enough tables for its ravenous patrons, it continues to turn out the most exciting chaat in the bay area. The batura chole is my regular dish here - a huge puffy wonder with spicy chickpeas. The dosas are very good, and their lamb roti is rich and fantastic.... More

Having gone for a Saturday lunch when Vik's is at its height, we were both delighted and confused by all the food choices, the din and the pretty crazy system for receiving one's food. Still, we loved it, though we ordered way too much. Street food from India right in Berkeley, in a great industrial space. Wow!

Vik's is a Berkeley tradition -- a standout clean, efficient, friendly joint to satisfy all your Indian street food cravings. From chaat to samosas to dosas to kaathi rolls to biryani, Indo-Chinese staples and freshly made Indian sweets, chai and lassi, it's impossible to have a bad meal here. Vik's ups the ante with environmentally sound plating, waste disposal and... More
