We made reservations for 7:00pm and showed up at 7 but had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. They did give us a very nice table in the corner with views of the water on two sides. Food: We ordered: Drinks: Scratch Margaritas, Gin and Tonic and Woodford Reserve. All excellent, especially the Margaritas. Appetizers: Crab and artichoke... More

1:45PM 12/21/14 end of brunch, busy, but seated before their estimated wait time of 15 min. Jose our waiter was prompt, polite, efficient and wow...they made splitting a meal delightful (which by then included dessert)...key lime the way Key West makes it! Delighted with IPA beer batter fish and a coleslaw I want the recipe for. (How do they do... More

Traveled to Bay Area to attend my uncle's 90th birthday (13 Dec) celebration. I was informed that the party would take place at Skates on the Bay and read some reviews, good and bad. We were a party of over 60 and reserved a large banquet room with a view (as it turned out) of the old pier, Alcatraz and... More

The view from this erstaurant across the Bay towards San Francisco and the Golden Bay Bridge is fantastic and romantic. The Service is excellent and they have a wide variety of good Food choices. It is advisable to make a reservation if you want to have a good table next to the window. There is also a bar attached to... More

We met friends here for a holiday dinner and were overwhelmed by the amazing service! They are known for the view and good food, but the improvement in service makes this a "go to" spot in the Bay Area. Our server, Stephani, was professional, helpful, and attentive without being obtrusive. We were checked on by the manager and the chef... More

Skates in a very unique place on the bay in San Francisco. You have a beautiful view compete with Alcatraz(not the best view of the prison but you can see it). The staff was fantastic the food was excellent. I highly recommend the crab dip and the roasted artichokes. If you are in the Berkley area please go to skates.... More

My husband and I just are here with some friends for the first time and look forward to coming again soon. The atmosphere looking out at the bay and the bridge was lovely and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! We shared the clam chowder which was one of the best I've... More

Surprised to have top notch service. Great views all around spectacular sunsets Wow! This place has changed, upholstered up well.. they sure clean up nice. After much needed renovations, it's looking slicker, more upscale. Along with the price of everything. It's a gorgeous view and a good meal, nothing spectacular. My clams were so tiny, needed husband's bifocals. With the... More

The Berkeley marina can be a challenging marina to sail out of. The arrangement of the breakwaters and other hazards combined with the typical wind direction and velocity in San Francisco bay make for some very exciting views at Skates. At this particular dinner it seemed that a sailboat was leaving or entering the harbor every five minutes. One boat... More
