My son and I went to Skates last night after sailing because our skipper/host said it was great food and especially recommended the lamb. It was late and we were hungry so rather go into town to a restaurant we knew we tried Skates. It was dark so we didn't get to see the view, which I'm sure is impressive.... more

At Skates, you're paying for the view. As a native to the area, the locals all know this. On a recent visit to Skates, I was reminded that Skates is great only for the view. Well went to Skates on 5th November, Wednesday evening the parking lot was full of cars. We had a twenty minute wait because no reservation was made...so we studied the menu and decided on what to order. We walked to the restaurant from our the DoubleTree Marina Hotel in Berkeley. The restaurant's was great: great service, great prices, great view!! The fruit plate which was $10 was huge. The cream of chicken and artichoke soup was fresh on-site. You will enjoy this restaurant. more
