My old standby!

I know that I can always count on this restaurant, in the Fourth Street district, for really good food. It can get noisy (concrete floors, tall ceilings), so best to come early if you can. If you arrive between lunch and dinner, there is an 'interim' menu of items from which to choose. Good... read more

We had dinner here with some friends who suggested it. Everything was extremely tasty. The kale caesar salad was the best caesar salad I've ever had. I'm pretty sure I could eat it every day and not get sick of it. I also had the spit-roasted chicken for dinner, paired with a good red wine. The chicken was cooked to... More

We called in here for a casual meal mid week and I had a lovely Fettuccine with Rock shrimp one of the best seafood pasta dishes I have had. However, even though the food was good and the service was okay the atmosphere somewhat spoilt the visit as the place just seemed too stuffy for a casual restaurant.

Must say the steak we had was good and the trout fresh. The trout was soaking in the cream that killed the rest of flavors. Absolutely over priced. Is a pretentious restaurant, it seems they try to be upper class but there's a lot missing out. As we arrived (7 pm) the girl at the reception didn't even fake a... More

We came specifically for the oysters and were not disappointed. There is a good selection but in the end the $.125 specials were still almost the best. Staff was friendly and quick.

Our birthday party of 7 enjoyed this place last night. Highlights: happy hour oysters for $1.25 each....plus a home made hot dog. Yes! Very accxomodating hostess gave us good table location, patient waiter also comped us "Opera Cake" which the group shared. Nice steak (16 oz rib eye can be shared easily), duck confit, lamb and creative salads and soup.... More

Went to. dinner with 3 girlfriends to celebrate my coming to the area. We had salads which looked really interesting and exotic on the menu. When they came to the table, they were nothing like the description of the menu, they were awful , unappetizing and overpriced. The service was good but the owner was very unfriendly

And found a new favorite with Cafe Rouge! Although our visits will probably be for special occasions as it is pricey. So, let's talk about prices. Yes, they're in the high range, but I wouldn't say very high. The food was excellent, the portions were good, and I felt it was money well spent. The restaurant is two levels, with... More

Ate outside. Simple meals for all in our party of 4, all well-prepared. Friendly service, very efficient. Sausage sandwich was great, bread was fantastic. I'd go back.

We stopped by with friends mid-afternoon for drinks and a snack. This bright and airy cafe, not far from the Berkeley Marina, turned out to be a delightful stop. The drinks were well mixed, the appetizers were varied, well presented and delicious, and Martin provided excellent service to our table. A very enjoyable choice.
