Description: Venus features the best of our local foodshed, from local farms, waters and ranches, served in warm and lovely style in the heart of Downtown Berkeley. A favorite dinner spot for theater goers, Venus devotes itself to local and organic purveyors, creating delicious Northern California style dishes. The wine list focuses on bio-dynamic, and sustainably farmed grapes, and a "New World" style of wine-making, where the fruit expresses itself. An open kitchen and banquette seating create a cozy vibe. Chef Amy Murray is a 15 year veteran of the organic, farm-to-table movement. Menus are created each month to highlight the best of the season and evoke good appetites. Venus also serves a unique brunch and lunch, and offers uncommonly good beer, wine and light cocktails. We are happy to do small parties and buy outs, and tasty lunch catering.

Some really different twists on the usual brunch menu- very tasty and reasonably priced. It's a relatively small place, so get there early on weekends ,

Discovered lemon ricotta pancakes with lemon curd. Whoa - too good. Had to work this off with an 8 mile hike up Mt. Tamalpais. Venus is great, but a bit pricey - $45 for breakfast for two - eggs, bacon, pancakes and the BEST coffee we found in the bay area.

Such fresh, well thought out dishes...it takes some time just to decide what to have. I ordered the Marin Sun Farms Lamb Tagine, which was the dish of the night. We also ordered the Slow Roasted Pork Sandwich...let me just say, bring your appetite. The sandwich was priced at $13.00 and was more than generous....and oh, the bread they use!... More

This is definitely a unique and delicious experience. The vegetables are fresh, perfectly seasoned and not what you get everywhere else. Try the chicken piri piri and be wowed by the mashed potatoes ( as good as my mother's!!). Service was prompt and waitstaff informative and helpful. Only issue was the steak!! In the menu was a sirloin strip: my... More

Chef Shelly and the staff make sure you get the best food and the best service. I love that most of the food is from local growers and they have vegan items on the menu, as well as lamb, beef, and chicken. I can't wait to go back. Don't miss the chance to eat here.

On a recent visit to Berkeley, we ate breakfast at Venus. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Our food was delicious but I must say that mine was outstanding. I had the Spring Scramble special and loved every bite! I asked for fruit instead of the potatoes and was surprised when I saw a beautiful arrangement of fresh fruit... More

Ok, so we've gotten snobby about eating fresh, well-prepared food. That is sometimes hard to find at breakfast time. We have a place we can walk to in our small town of Albany but for one of us celebrating a birthday, the request was for a top-notch breakfast Berkeley style. We found it at Venus. One of us had a... Everything tasted fresh and tasty. The menu changes per season. Some of us had the fish and chips, they liked it a lot with large pieces of fresh fish and crispy coating accompanied with huge potato fries. I had the pork chop which came on top of the largest bed of mashed potatoes, but the chop was perfectly cooked and... More

A basic no frills pizza and beer joint. Inside dining, and outside patio dining. The inside restaurant has two levels and is very noisy. Music is extremely loud. The louder the music, the louder people have to talk. The outside patio is nice, but crowded. Table are packed in and close together. Regardless, the outside patio is much better than... More
