Cafe Fanny has been replaced by another restaurant. The food is quite good but the selections are limited.

Sadly, Cafe Fanny has gone out of business. It just goes to show that even long lines to get in don't guaranty that you can make enough money to survive.

This upscale/working class cafe is the only place we are willing to stand in line for. We go for breakfast, always ordering cafe au lait, poached eggs (superfresh) and share an order of beignets (magical) if we arrive early enough. You can eat either at a stand-up bar inside (where my Italian husbands complains we Americans don't really know how... More

It is right in the middle. The AuLait is top notch and other food is always a treat. I used to see Alice Waters... More

We eat lunch here once a week, and even like it better than upstairs at Chez Panisse. LOVE the savory galettes!

The best cafe au lait in the east bay. Great baked goods and quiche. Find soups can be underseasoned. But the coffee is truly superb.
