It was good, but for some reason I was expecting more. We had early reservations, and when we arrived, I told the waiter how I had watched the show "Check Please" and talked to him about the onion tart and told him we would like to start with that. I explained to the waiter that we had eaten here a... More

We had a lovely dinner before going to the evening Berkeley Rep theater. Service was excellent, food was very good. The oysters in rice flour were wonderful. Salad was excellent as were our main courses. My wife had the salmon on succotash I had the fish stew. Other than the scallops being a little dry, the food was excellent. The... More

Excellent place to eat only a block from UC Berkeley campus. Every meal I've had has been delicious and the wait staff, bartender and hostess always open and friendly. It's french inspired California cusine (or vice-versa). Everybody likes the croque monsieur, pommes frites, beef bourguignon and the ile flottante and fondant au chocolate. They will be serving lunch next door... More

Just happened in for dinner. It is quaint and pleasant. Tables are very close to one another.. so I wouldn't plan for privacy or quite. Menu was pretty unusual but all our choices were very good. The trout was not a big portion but was very good and fixed perfectly! Chese plate was also great as an appetizer. Service was... More

Went to a great party catered by these guys the night before so we had very high expectations for our breakfast, but we were let down a just a little bit. Not that anything was bad, but it certainly wasn't stupendous. Ate outside on a beautiful Sunday morning which was nice. The waitress started with "Bon Jour" but when we... More

Nice french bistro in convenient location. Kitchen noise and guest talking is quite loud, but the food is excellent. Loved the salads.

It sits on a relatively quiet neighborhood corner, but not a drop-in Bistro by normal standards. (This is Berkeley, after all.) If you order wine and three courses for lunch be prepared for a hefty check. But for a special occasion lunch it is a superb choice. Excellent cuisine in a true Continental atmosphere. The service was very French as... More

We dined here during Berkeley's restaurant week and enjoyed the fixed price offering. We arrived early (6:30) and by the time we left, the restaurant was packed. I enjoyed the mussels and trout almondine. The trout was perfectly cooked and the almonds added a nice crunch, but the sauce was lacking in flavor. My wife had the goat cheese and... More

The appetizers were excellent--my wife had a spinach salad, and I had the crabcake--and we were looking forward to the entrees. However, here is where we were disappointed. My wife's sole stuffed with crab was overcooked. I had the sea bass with Brussels sprouts. Sea bass, having a bland taste, needs a good sauce. Here, the sauce was just adequately... More
