Description: Rivoli strives to be a hands on, moderately priced restaurant with simple and creative food, carefully selected wines and comfortable service in a warm and lively atmosphere. Rivoli’s distinction comes from the heart and soul of its owners and staff. The menu relies on what is seasonal, local and fresh, using mostly organic produce, sustainably caught fish and naturally raised meats and poultry. The wines are selected for their affinity with the food, and offer the best values from the cooler regions of California and the Old World. The dining room staff provides friendly and attentive service and the chefs and cooks are skilled artisans of their craft.

We were visiting Berkeley for the weekend and the great Trip Advisor rating drew us to Rivoli. I was really surprised and disappointed at how average it was. The atmosphere was ok - it seemed like an older place and was honestly a little shabby inside, but no big deal there (could be considered "charming" though certainly not elegant). The... More

I took my sister out to dinner to have some time just to chat. From the moment we sat down, we were delighted. We asked if we could change tables to sit in chairs vs bench seating - no problem. We were served promptly but never felt rushed. We both had the grilled scallop dish with snap beans and a... More

Consistently delicious fare in a professional, but not stuffy locale. Celebrated many a special occasion here with family and friends. They always add a little something special to the festivities. the food is on par with our renowned local; Ches Pannaise, with a boat more casual atmosphere.

Great food, especially the portobello mushroom fritter. The homemade ravioli and short ribs were exceptional. The waitstaff was very attentive and pleasant. Make a reservation on the week-end as it was very crowded.

I knew my son was traveling at some point this fall but when I learned a month-long trip was imminent within a week I started negotiating dates to get together. We met at Rivoli, my choice, to share a meal before his trip to Korea & Japan. I arrived early, was graciously seated before my son arrived and was asked... More

This is a very popular place and they were able to squeeze us in because there were only two of us. It's a small place with a wall of windows that look on to an enclosed garden in the back. I liked that we were not overwhelmed with loud music and people could hear each other talk. We tried a... More

A fairly attractive restaurant with a 60's Asian/Scandinavian design vibe.....saved from total blandness by a charming back garden seen through large picture windows. A restaurant that still has tablecloths(yay!) and a decent amount of space around the tables. A good full bar and good Hendrik's martinis. Interesting and changing menu. The current Rack of Lamb is good with a very... More

Rivoli is a favorite of ours for special occasions. On a recent visit, we celebrated our anniversary, and we were as impressed as always with the ambiance, menu, service, and overall experience. We each ordered an appetizer and entrée, then shared a dessert. Every item was excellent: Parmigiano Reggiano soufflé with San Danielle prosciutto, sugar kiss melon, and black mission... More

We love this restaurant and have been there several times. Lately, it has fallen out of the "top 100" according to the SF Chronicle. I saw no evidence of a decline. The food, especially the portobella mushroom fritters, was the way we remembered it, and the service was impeccable. It is not cheap, but worth it. We tend to save... More
