To be honest, the best pizza I ever had in my life was in Montreal at some Mom & Pop joint that was so small, it didn'lt have a sign outside. With pizza like that, they didn't need a sign. The same is true about Zachary's. Pull the sign off the building and you would still have people coming... read more

Probably the best deep dish (Chicago style) Pizza I've ever had, plus they have a Vegan option for cheese - I go there every time I'm in town.

As a native Chicagoan (Uno and Duet), I'm familiar with good dep-dish pizza. Zachary's can hold its own again the Chicago places. They offer a tasty whole-wheat crust! Try the Mediterranean. Be prepared to wait to be seated -- many locals prefer to order to go. Since this isn't "diet" food, we try to limit our intake to once a... More

They make both regular and chicago deep dish pizza. I think both pizza's were good. The deep dish has lots of tomatoes/sauce. I like that but many don't. We were a group of 5 and I was the only one who didn't have a pile of tomatoes left on their plate. The wait time for deep dish is quite long... More

When in need of comfort pizza, Zachary's is the go to. Also great for non fancy birthday meals. Always tasty. The warm ambience, friendly servers, and quirky art doesn't hurt either.

A Berkeley landmark, Zachary's is always crowded, noisy, super-busy, with lines of people also waiting for take-out. It offers thick ("Chicago style") crust pizza and regular crush, neither of which is special unless you crave thick doughy pizza crust. Far better is the pizza (and other Italian cuisine plus fine salads) at Lo Coco's on Shattuck & Rose.

The restaurant is very small and noisy. Service is OK. Pizza is GOOD! We take it home "half baked" and finish in the oven. It stays warmer that way than in the rest.

There is nowhere to get a better Chicago-style pizza. Even in Chicago. I love the crust, the cheese, the beer selection. Just be sure to get there long before you get hungry, because there´s always a waiting list and the pizzas take a while to cook. Also, if you can get your order in as soon as you get on... More

Having lived in NY, anytime I find great pizza in another part of the country, I feel like it's a big deal. Zachary's makes fabulous Chicago style deep dish pizza. If you like Italian food, you will love their pizza.
