Eclectic and Relaxed in Berkeley

We ate at Lalime's with friends from the East Bay. We are not familiar with Berkeley, and the part of Gilman the restaurant is on is pretty dark and it may b chore to find on street parking in relatively narrow streets. We were lucky and found parking very near. The restaurant is nicely laid... read more

This is one of two restaurants where my husband and I go for special occasions, or just to treat ourselves to a fine meal. On Tuesdays they feature small plates; on the other days there is a mixture. You can be sure to get fresh, seasonal food, perfectly prepared and presented with a very tasty and interesting flavor blend. They... More

Wow! We love this Restaurant. Everything on their Menu is fantastic. Food Heaven. Try for appetizers the Feesh Oysters on the Half shell, Chilled Shrimp, and Grilled Lamb Heart. The Pear Parsnip Soup is divine. For entrees order the Braised Oxtail, Mussels, Grilled Pork Chops. Extensive wine list. DESSERTS are divine. A MUST, even in Foodie Berkeley.

A small local restaurant on two levels, with a friendly, warm atmosphere. After many, many visits, I can attest to creative, tasty dishes on every visit, served by a competent, helpful staff.

Lalime's Cafe is more than the name suggests. It's a trendy neighborhood hangout up Gilman in a residential area. Wish I lived there so I could walk over once a week or so. Pros: Fresh well prepared food (had duck breast cooked just right and a pasta with ragu also cooked just right); attentive service; nice simple presentations; Asian-hip feel... More

We went to mark a special occasion, and had an extraordinarily pleasant meal. We lingered after paying the bill, watching the action and simply savoring the experience. It’s been a long time since the two of us had a two-hour dinner by ourselves. The staff were all unusually friendly, pleasant and attentive. While the bill was twice what we generally... More

Had a wonderful meal to celebrate upcoming wedding with daughter and soon to be son-in-law. The meal was really tasty. I had the salmon and my husband had pork chops, both of whichwere well Leppard, but the best part a the gazpacho...so good! All our food was really wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant when you visit Berkeley.

We took my mother to Lalime's to celebrate her 89th birthday recently. It was difficult to find someplace that would seat a party of 12 at an hour when the restaurant was bound to be busy; most spots wanted us to come either very early or very late, which didn't work for our work schedules at all. Lalime's gave us... More

We are in town to see friends. Found this resturant on the OpenTable list of places near our hotel. The reviews were good so...we tried it out. Parking is on street and there aren't a lot of places. So plan accordingly. The greeting was welcoming but the person took of to we think clear a table but didn't tell us... More
