My wife and I had a recent cozy and romantic dinner at Lalime's, which is a somehwat upscale neighborhood cafe in Berkeley serving California-Frenchish cuisine with a vaguely nouvelle and locally-sourced bias. The room is very pleasant, and we were seated right away at a comfortable and attractive table (with a reservation). Someone has paid attention to the details: place... More

The ambience in charming, the food is delicious, with service that was friendly and helpful. We dined here on Christmas Eve, after meaning to come here for years. We will be back. The three of us had a Lamb ragout on polenta, grouper in a broth and a grilled pork chop. All were very well prepared and very tasty. We... More

This is a go-to place for my husband and me -- dependably delicious, with fun and flavorful menu choices ranging from comfort food (fried chicken) to the more exotic. Nice atmosphere -- warm and elegantly homey. The menu varies with the season (even week by week), so part of the fun is putting together a great meal from local and... More

We recently dined for the the first time at Lalime's and really enjoyed our experience. They serve a seasonal menu that is fairly limited in scope, so it pays to check their website to get a sense of what's currently being offered. Nevertheless, we found a number of interesting choices, all of which were very well prepared and demonstrated an... More

This was my first time to Lalime's. The ambience was nice, white table clothes, arts and craft architecture..reminded me a lot if Bay Wolf in Oakland which i like. Service was good, though did get some wine spilt on me. Food could have been better. I had lamb chops, a bit thin for a high end restaurant and they were... More

This is our special night out spot, that is now back on track. Unfortunately it went through a few chefs as they passed through town (or so it seamed), but things are once again stable and consistently great. It is also the type of restaurant that you can bring the kids that are used to being out, they can have... More

Freshly prepared California cuisine presented in a styling intimate setting. This was our first time back to Laimes after a few years. Although everything was good - it was not great. Of the main courses (Couscous/vegetable Tangine, beef filet, fettucine, roasted lamb), the beef filet and Couscous tangine were good - the other two missed the mark. The server was... More

We have been coming to Lalime's for about 30 years, since they were a spectacular fledgling restaurant on Solono Avenue. Tonight, as an appetizer, I had a fantastic calamari dish, on the menu as Calamari a la Planxa. The menu listed bagna cauda, sun gold tomatoes, castelveltrano olives; which is just what it had. It was wonderful! The mix of... More

We have been eating here once every few years for over 25 years. We had not been for quite a while and we were excited to revisit an old favorite. We were so disappointed in the food. Way too much use of garlic which over powered two of our choices. We could think of many Bay Area restaurants that are... More

In California where one would expect to find fresh vegetables and light, imaginative cooking, we were disappointed to be served a variety of dishes which were oily and over-cooked. The menu was limited, few vegetables. Everything tasted the same: lamb, pork, squid, calamari - equally bland and soggy.
