Freshly prepared California cuisine presented in a styling intimate setting. This was our first time back to Laimes after a few years. Although everything was good - it was not great. Of the main courses (Couscous/vegetable Tangine, beef filet, fettucine, roasted lamb), the beef filet and Couscous tangine were good - the other two missed the mark. The server was... More

We have been coming to Lalime's for about 30 years, since they were a spectacular fledgling restaurant on Solono Avenue. Tonight, as an appetizer, I had a fantastic calamari dish, on the menu as Calamari a la Planxa. The menu listed bagna cauda, sun gold tomatoes, castelveltrano olives; which is just what it had. It was wonderful! The mix of... More

We have been eating here once every few years for over 25 years. We had not been for quite a while and we were excited to revisit an old favorite. We were so disappointed in the food. Way too much use of garlic which over powered two of our choices. We could think of many Bay Area restaurants that are... More

In California where one would expect to find fresh vegetables and light, imaginative cooking, we were disappointed to be served a variety of dishes which were oily and over-cooked. The menu was limited, few vegetables. Everything tasted the same: lamb, pork, squid, calamari - equally bland and soggy.

Lalime's was a good hike from the UCB campus and when we arrived we were greated by helpful and friendly staff. It took several hours for our large group to get through a meal, something that is not unusual for a large group. All the entrees looked delicious. The sauce on my duck was slightly spicy and fully flavorful. Others... More

I've been wanting to try Lalimes for a while and Im glad we finally went. This is a perfect restaurant for couples and when you want to hear your conversation. (which is hard to find in most smaller Berkeley restaurant's.) my meal was delicious... cauliflower and leek soup... NO CREAM but soooooo creamy. great salad and the crab cakes were... More

We went for a birthday dinner and while the atmosphere was great, the food was just okay. The server seemed a little overwhelmed and it took forever to get our food. My steak was lousy but the sides and appetizers were pretty good.

The server was ok, but did not follow up during our meal. The beet salad needed more beets and goat cheese. My friends' duck breast was basically raw (he only ate the 2 outside pieces). My wife's french fries had way too much salt on them. The sweetbreads were good. The wine list had a good selection and wasn't over... More

My husband and I had eaten at Lalime's several years ago and enjoyed it immensely. Our dinner there recently was a great disappointment. The menu is very limited and what we did have was average. The best part of the dinner was the beet salad. The small plates were not big enough to share. It appears as if the emphasis... More

Lalimes is a wonderful restaurant to relax and enjoy a conversation. When seeing the restaurant from outside, one does not realize how surprisingly open and comfortable it is. The chef offers a tasty menu. All is well prepared and served beautifully.
