Consistently good Italian

One of our two go-to Italian restaurant. Always good, sometimes great, the pastas and other entrees are very well prepared, the salumi and olives house cured, wine list diverse and well paired with food choices. Service is excellent, if a bit agressive in trying to upsell one. For a non-stop... read more

We were looking for a place for dinner before a show at the Berkeley Greek Theatre. Decided on Trattoria Corso based on the internet photos and reviews and its proximity to the theatre. Read it was hard to get in without a reservation but decided to take a chance. Had to wait 30 minutes so we had 90 minutes to... More

This is arguably a neighborhood spot but the food is ready for prime time. I had several apps (eggplant, mushrooms, etc) and they were really great. Depth of flavor. Well prepared. Had the Chicken roulade. Exceptionally well done. Sous Vide preparation then sautéed off crispy. Wow ! Wine list was great. I sat at the kitchen counter and it was... More

Just down the street from the famous Chez Panisse, we happened upon this busy spot by accident. The only remaining seating that evening was at the small bar area, where the bartender took excellent care of us weary travelers. We enjoyed each dish (crispy trippa, branzino, and the orecchiete special) immensely. Wine selections were good, too. What a nice surprise... More

After a long work week, we love to end it here. It's small with a neighborhood feel and the food is reliably excellent. We also enjoy sitting at the counter watching the chefs do their thing.

we dined at 5pm after a matinee performance at the berkeley rep theater......a 10 minute walk away. you can see everything going on in the kitchen.......many good things!..... negatives: the decor is spartan and the noise level high.....very good value priceing for high quality and good size portions. a good all-italian wine list. a definite repeat.

Our daughter Lorraine, who lives in New York, went online to find this restaurant as a treat for her mom's birthday, and as it happens, our anniversary. Located on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, Corso is fun, incredibly comfortable and has great food. Lorraine made a great choice, un-taste tested. We think we got the best seat in the house in... More

If you around Berkeley and feel like some vero macaroni, here is the place. nice place, very good service. But you must have a reservation for the weekends. Other problem ,if you are not a "early bird"they run off the best things fast, very fast for my taste. For us was the fish and ,trippa .I had a yogurt kind of gnocchi not... More

May 12 There are many fine restos in Berkeley-Oakland, but our last time at Trattoria Corso was so memorable that we wanted to return. On the north side of Shattuck, it is bit further out of the University sphere, but still a safe area to walk in the evening. It is bigger than I remembered and is still popular with... More

the menu is very limited. My son had steak which he found to be o.k.($49), my daughter in law had bass which she found to be o.k.($49), my wife had the sausage which looked unappetizing and was over-spiced. I first had the loin of lamb which I sent back because it was chewy and tasteless, I then had the pasta... More
