Relaxed neighborhood quality Italian

While polls show Americans' favorite ethnic food is Italian, I have found few decent Italian restaurants in Berkeley...many in SF but few in the East Bay. A few years ago, Corso added a new option in the North Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto area. A small intimate restaurant with a few seats at the bar and... read more

Went here on a Sunday evening with a reservation but was seated quickly. The food was outstanding, one of the better meals I had in along time. I had the pork cutlet, was tender and tasty. Wife had Bucatini and said it was excellent. Service was good, tables close together but standard for a restaurant in an urban setting. Highly... More

Personable service, excellent food, an always perfect Bistecca. Noisy but great with just the two of us.

Delicious food, good/interesting wines by the glass, convivial and slightly crowded seating, all add up to a memorable Italian-inspired evening. There are a few seats available at the counter, some that give you a close view of the fast-paced chefs. Special occasion? Casual get together with friends, wishing you were dining in Florence? Buon Appetito!

I love this place. It's got great food, ambiance, sophisticated but simple decor, a genuine part of the larger neighborhood of Berkeley (which includes Italy, France, Japan, China, Africa and many other places with marvelous cuisine.) The kind of place you can take a visitor and yet go back again and again yourself. it is a bit noisy. Hard to... More

I've been here four times and have been happy each time. It gets too noisy so I've gone early each time. Some people like noise though!

I loved this restaurant. We were seated right away at a good table (you know how sometimes half the restaurant is empty and you still get seated near the restrooms?) by the window. The restaurant is smallish plates and after we ordered they came out slowly enough for us to enjoy each one without ever feeling rushed. We got advice... More

I admit I am jaded. I have the distinct privilege of living in central London where Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea are my backyard. But I rarely have the pleasure of such an excellent dining experience as I had last night. Corso in Berkeley very quietly and unobtrusively knocked my socks off. Four of us had a reservation at 8; we... More

This is a very busy restaurant and so make sure that you reserve a table. There is a very good reason that it is so busy, the food is simply to die for. The food is very flavorful and delicious. The bread is wonderful as well. The portions are small however they more than make up for the quantity with... More

I love this place! I used to go there all the time with my boyfriend. It was like "our" place in Berkeley! The service is perfect and the food is outstanding! The staff is very nice and attentive. I highly recommend this place for everything since dates or just dinner out. They change the menu often so no one gets bored... More
