We were all delighted with our food. It was delicious. There were 3 adults and a 10 year old. Between us we tried the faggots and scallop starters and beef, turbot and sea trout for main course. We shared the marmalade pudding, chocolate fondant and meringues desserts. The marmalade pudding with drambuie custard was the best but the others were... More

What a dear little jewel. We booked this by mistake, thinking we were going to end up elsewhere and got in to see a disappointed couple being (nicely) turned away as the tiny place was full. They wished us well and said they envied us. The BA helpfully recommended other good local places and even rang to make a reservation... More

We've had lunch at the Butchers Arms 3 times so I think I can confidentially say the standard has been maintained with out exception. The cooking is a a very high standard and Laura front of house is both friendly and knowledgable regarding wine and food. The roast turbot and fillet of beef are both fantastic. The intimate atmosphere mixed... More

Our party of four enjoyed three courses, all different, and we were all delighted at every stage. Memorable food, delightful service and a rainbow thrown in. James knows how to find fantastic fish and he cooks it to perfection.

We recently stayed at a local B&B and they recommended The Butchers Arms. We don't live in the UK so were trying to experience as many pubs as we could and this one was amazing. The service was smooth and friendly and they seem to have a few regulars. We loved that it was in a small pub that had... More

Absolutely everything about The Butchers Arms is absolutely gorgeous from the beautifully maintained car park, the pretty walk through the garden to the exquisitely decorated bar. The staff are all very friendly and, hardly surprisingly, enthusiastic about the food and drink. We spent some time choosing the wine and had lots of helpful and cheerful advice. The wine was really... More

Arrived with friends on a lovely evening and drank a bottle of wine outside whilst the food was being prepared. Very friendly staff, professional and mature. The food was excellent but the portions were small, you need the three courses .I had the Salcombe crab starter followed by the beef and we all finished with the chocolate fondant. All very... More

I took my husband here for his birthday as it is our habit to celebrate at a Michelin-starred restaurant and we were both very happy with the food, wine and service. Although the menu is fairly simple in terms of the dishes on offer, with some very regular dishes: I had scallop, peas and pork to start, followed by Hereford... More

We've eaten here twice now and it is just terrific. Food is excellent and blends hearty portions with real flair. Guest beers are of interest and there is also plenty of choice for wine. Service is charming and attentive and all in all a place we will return to again and again.
