We recently stayed at a local B&B and they recommended The Butchers Arms. We don't live in the UK so were trying to experience as many pubs as we could and this one was amazing. The service was smooth and friendly and they seem to have a few regulars. We loved that it was in a small pub that had... More

Absolutely everything about The Butchers Arms is absolutely gorgeous from the beautifully maintained car park, the pretty walk through the garden to the exquisitely decorated bar. The staff are all very friendly and, hardly surprisingly, enthusiastic about the food and drink. We spent some time choosing the wine and had lots of helpful and cheerful advice. The wine was really... More

Arrived with friends on a lovely evening and drank a bottle of wine outside whilst the food was being prepared. Very friendly staff, professional and mature. The food was excellent but the portions were small, you need the three courses .I had the Salcombe crab starter followed by the beef and we all finished with the chocolate fondant. All very... More

I took my husband here for his birthday as it is our habit to celebrate at a Michelin-starred restaurant and we were both very happy with the food, wine and service. Although the menu is fairly simple in terms of the dishes on offer, with some very regular dishes: I had scallop, peas and pork to start, followed by Hereford... More

We've eaten here twice now and it is just terrific. Food is excellent and blends hearty portions with real flair. Guest beers are of interest and there is also plenty of choice for wine. Service is charming and attentive and all in all a place we will return to again and again.

Lovely, unpretentious place with very good food. Good choice although there didn't appear to be vegetarian choice, but that said, I didn't ask. Dessert one of the highlights - rose water meringues, passion fruit jelly, lemon sorbet and lemon curd. One of the best I've ever had. We will be back!

As usual the warm welcome was good and the ambiance is great if you like rustic rural. The beer was a bit warm but everything else was good - makes a change to drink decent wines. The food was of a high standard as befits a Michelin star - slightly small portions so had to have a desert - a... More

We have now been lucky enough to have eaten here 4 or 5 times and it never disappoints. If you want white table cloths, jackets, ties and the atmosphere of a library then this isn't the place for you. But if you want wonderful food (nowhere else is even close to this standard within the area), a relaxed environment, excellent... More

Fourth time I've eaten here, always a perfect meal. Delicious wine to accompany the meal, service is always polite and helpful. Love knowing that we are going back when we book a table, hopefully it will happen soon!
