Great meal... 1 criticism

Having dined at many award winning restaurants, the butchers arms Is one of the nicest meals we've had. We loved the simplicity and flavour combinations of each dish. And a special mention for bread, it was superb, sourdough like texture with the 'crunchiest' of crust (Whats he secret?!). Of course... read more

Not many words required....Simply fabulous. Don't be fooled by the typical country pub scene (which is lovely in itself), because inside is a wonderful dining experience. The warm welcome, atmosphere, service, food and wine is all superb. Each dish was cooked with love, packed full of flavour and presented beautifully. I'm already planning my return visit.

Family of twelve, aged from 13 to 70, descended on The Butchers Arms for dinner. What a fantastic evening. Wonderful convivial atmosphere and an amazing, memorable dining experience. Across our table, I think we tried the whole menu and I recall that everyone was delighted. The Onion Tart, the Pigs Cheek, the Smoked Eel, Scallops and John Dory particularly stood... More

Wonderful ambience, wonderful food and wine! Small family run restaurant /bar serving real ales, fine wines and exceptional food locally sourced and prepared by a very talented chef and his wife. The service was of a very high standard and always with a smile. Highly recommend a visit and well worth a detour if passing!

Excellent food and service in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The best place to eat in Gloucestershire without needing to be formal, a little gem, tucked away, but worth the drive Choice of dishes, well could easily have chosen 4 out of 5 of each course. The squab with almond tart, is superb, as is the scallop and pork bun, and... More

What a hidden gem of a country pub! It's the perfect mix of tiny quaint local and fantastic food that would be at home in the classiest of city restaurants. The small but varied menu is ideal, especially when mixed with the clever combinations and great quality ingredients. As a table of 6 we were looked after attentively and in... More

Been wanting to visit for a long time and for a variety of reasons it's taken a while, but wow, was it worth the wait!! Arrived on a balmy evening, had our drinks in the garden, one of the nicest Prosecco's I've been privileged to drink! Every course was an absolute delight, the bread was delicious, didn't need butter, and... More

The pub itself is small and intimate. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient without being stuffy or oppressive. Great husband and wife team. The food is to die for!!! I have been going since they moved into the place around 2007, I have never had a meal that has been less than excellent. It's maybe not the best place... More
