A great little place for a quick breakfast. The food is good, the service is good. Had the Biscuits and Gravy, which were very tasty.

This is one of the best breakfast places in town. All American breakfasts, some with a Latin flare. The whole wheat pancakes are great, but the eggs are always perfect and hash browns are that great balance between soft and crunchy. The décor is a bit drab, but it's county dining so I don't mind a bit.

My wife and I go to Spencer's Cafe every couple of months for lunch. They have a great Texas Salad, and my wife favors the Chef's Salad. Always fresh and flavorful. Service is invariably friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times and have always been pleased with the food and the service. They have a completley separate menu for seniors. They are usually very busy, but the wait is usually short. We reccommnedn that you try it whether you live in Bakersfield or are just passing through.

Went with hubby and was seated very quickly. Service was almost perfect. Our waitress got our drink order right away and our also took our food order rather quick......but forgot to give it to the cook. Waited nearly 30 minutes and no food. We checked on it and she found her mishap, came over and apologized and got our food... More

Christmas Eve breakfast. Place was packed but didn't wait long. Food was fantastic and all the servers were friendly. I'm 2000+ miles from home but felt like I was at home. I will definitely eat here every time I'm in Bakersfield.

Arrived just as the breakfast crowd was thinning out. Many interesting choices, ordered the chili verde scramble, got enough food for three people; super hot, quite tasty, not quite spicy enough. Son shared the chicken fried chicken and eggs, hash browns, biscuit and gravy with my wife and still didn't get halfway through it. Friendly, perky wait staff. Overall very... More

The food was the Americana I expected from a long-standing American diner or cafe. We went for breakfast, and my wife loved the buttermilk pancakes. This was an amazing positive from her because the ambiance was disturbed by screaming kids, drumming on tables, along with the regular cacophony of the restaurant. Bad timing for us there I expect, but the... More

Spencer's gets lots of good responses and we liked it, but it is average. The portions were normal, not huge, as a lot of people state. I liked the portion size, but was expecting more, from other reviews. My chicken fried steak was overcooked, but my husband's ham meal was good. Not to ignore, this is a good place, but... More

This is BFL at its best..tasty country food ("chicken fried steak"). This is not a "gourmet" place. Just country food at its best with super-nice staff and family owned it seems. If you are looking for the fancy stuff, you may need to drive to LA..You gotta take BFL as what it is - one of the most depressed areas... More
