Ok so I finally tried out Mama Roomba's and was very disappointed with what my friends called a "great place to eat". Their tapas should not be called tapas instead they should be called microwaved finger foods. We ordered the empanadas and they were so bland not to mention expensive for what you received. Our main dish was a "Brazilian... More

Fresh tortilla soup, flavorful and moist fresh salmon with a zesty mango and corn sauce, a variety of beans in a tasty marinade. ALL DELICIOUS. Service is a little slow, but I was there on a Friday night and grateful to get a table. Nice ambience, colorful decor, outdoor seating, close to the local theaters so perfect for a pre-performance... More

The poor girl waiting tables seemed to be alone with a fairly full house. She took our drink order then got out of sequence in taking food orders...so a bit of a wait. Not a big deal. We ordered and asked for bread - was told bread was being made and would be 5 minutes. Had to ask again for... More

Intimidated by the down-market feel of surrounding downtown Bakersfield, yet hungry, we picked Mama Roomba purely because of its colorful exterior. Although some describe it as Cuban, it is more truly eclectic Latin American, the decor that of an old family cafe. The chef is said to be Mexican, but our Peruvian Ceviche and Chilean empanadas were perfect expressions of... More

We flew into town for business and we were looking for a place close to the hotel. This place was recommended by some locals. We ordered nothing but appetizers. Prawns, Empanadas, Skillet Chicken, Calamari, etc. They were all really good. Then they brought out the fried bananas and ice cream. Awesome!

Food was good, kind of tapas/family style. Caribbean/Jamaican/Cuban was really good and unexpected. The jerk chicken was OK but not as good as some that I have had. Black beans and plantains were really good as well as the empanadas and mango chicken.

I hadn't been to Mama Roomba's in a year or so because it was too far from where I worked downtown. When I switched job locations, I found myself going for lunch and I must say it was just a good as I remembered it! I love the Cuban pork sandwiches and the fish and shrimp dishes. The servers are... If you like Cuban food, this is the place for you. I liked the pork sandwich, a Cuban tradition. Probably not for everyone as Cuban food has its quirks. Try the fried plantains.

the Cuban Sandwich was very good, the accompanying potatoes a poor excuse for potatoes. If you like garlic and an abundance of it, this is the place for you. My friend had an appetizer and it was adequate for an appetizer, I could smell garlic from across the table! (I am not a garlic fan in my old age.) The... More
