New Year's Eve dinner with my family at Noriega's was fantastic. It's all served family style & we happened to be seated next to the owners family. We heard stories of restaurant ownership through the years. The food that night was lamb stew & prime rib, along with the best Basque set up in Bakersfield. Outstanding!

Tradition, tradition, tradition. Give yourself enough time to sit in the bar, look at the history of the basque culture. Try a Moscow Mule to drink in the copper cup. Enjoy family style dining. Talk to the people sitting next to you and soak up the culture/ invironment . Great food too

Noriegas is without a doubt the best Bakersfield has to offer. Classic, rustic, Basque cuisine. Simple and satisfying...words cannot do this place justice. They have one seating a night for dinner and its family style, meaning you sit at a long table and share with whoever you sit next to. Awesome way to make new friends. Its not in the... More

I lived in Bakersfield from 1982-1986 and close friends took me to Noriega's so many times on Saturday nights. It was the best meal of the week! When I just saw the lady describe the Saturday night meal, it made me so homesick for Bakersfield! I live back in NC now, no Basque sheepherders or interesting restaurants with jailai courts... The James Beard Foundation honored Noriega's as an "American Classic." If that isn't enough to convince you to dine here, nothing I can say will change your mind. To the Noriega "family": Please do not touch or change a thing! For me the eating here elevates dinner to a dining experience. From gathering in the bar area awaiting the call... More

After the soup course all dishes are Americanized - chicken cacciatore and spaghetti with marinara, and steaks, and plain green beans and lettuce with vinegrette. The food is good not great and very plentiful. They assign your seats and our table mates were far more colorful than the dinner. (Crazy and weird but fun). This isn't a foodies place but... More

My friend and I recently had lunch here for the first time. We had such a great time! Everyone is seated and served family style. There is no menu to order from - everyone gets the same food for the meal and you share a platter with those sitting around you. A very unique dining experience! We had a great... More

Bakersfield is blessed with a great many good Basque restaurants and Noriega's is one of the oldest and one of the best. All means served family style in the Basque tradition. An older restaurant but still serving great Basque food.
