Gotta go for breakfast

This is a piece of Bakersfield history. The place is loaded with old photos, pieces of equipment tied to what made Bakersfield, oil & ag. The country fried steak was good and so are the omelets.

Absolutley the WORST food I have ever tasted, been served in the month I was in USA I had NO idea what a "chicken fried steak" was but had seen it on a few menus from Texas to Arizona .... the Yelp reviews said it was great .... the young lady that showed us to the table said it was... More

Was with some friends including 2 Bakersfield locals for breakfast while on way to Yosemite. This is our new go-to place for breakfast when zipping up and down CA99. Veggie omelet is great especially with country red potatoes. Eggs Benedict a total surprise on the menu and our friends loved it as did another who enjoyed the hash. Haven't tried... More

Came here based on reviews on the way north on hwy 99 and glad we did. Place is right off the freeway. Party of 4 on a Monday about 12:30 and sat right down. Lots of locals and everyone was very friendly. Server knew the menu and made some recommendations. From the loaded baked potato to chicken sandwich and everything... More

I love eating, especially breakfast, there. Last time I was there, I had a chili verde omelet, and it was to die for. (I almost did, because it bit me back) quite hot, but deeelicious, and the service was great.

My wife and I eat at Knotty Pine regularly. There is a very large portion of their business that is from repeat customers, which says something. The downside is they are a little out of the way and parking is difficult. On weekends, you can park in the E&B lot next door, but not during the week. The other problem... More

Been here a few times, but it had been a while. This last time, the food was nowhere near as good as it was before. The flavor was BLAND, and the gravy had no flavor to even call it bland- it was like wallpaper paste. Very disappointing. The service was not so great, considering that my empty coffee cup sat... Sorry to all of my customers who may have questions of where I've gone..PLEASE dont think I've left on my own terms...working hard, following rules, and having hospitality is obviously not enough to keep a job anymore :( A warning, writeup, or a good reason would have been the right thing to do ..but I guess I did not "deserve"... A local favorite for good reason. Breakfast is very good no matter what you choose, but the California omelet is my favorite. The hash browns with bacon and cheese are delicious! For lunch the burgers are good and so is the chicken salad. Service is always friendly.
