Fantastic restaurant in Bakersfield. Food tasted fresh and restaurant was very clean. One of the best buffets I've ever tried! Got to meet the owners (the Hodel's) and found them kind and gracious.

We have been to Hodel's Country Dining several times on our way up Highway 99. The place is spotlessly clean and has excellent breakfasts--it has an excellent omelette area; a huge selection of fruits; waffels; meats and potatoes; and juices and drinks. This is a place frequented by locals, but the service is quite good, the place comfortable, and is... More

Since we were passing through Bakersfield around dinner time and we were all hungry, I suggested going to Hodel's. We had been there before and it was always good, so everyone agreed. Just as expected, the food was great and the price was super reasonable. The place is very clean and the atmosphere is nice, too. Anyway, I'm sure we... More

Kind of what you would expect in a buffet, but Hodels has been pulling it off in a very tasty way for a long time. The fried chicken is especially delightful - among the best I've ever had. (But I don't indulge very often). A varied lunch, busy with Kern County Sheriff Deputies, which to me is always a plus.... More

Hodels is awesome. It is a busy buffet style restaurant, with fresh fruits and vegetables. Homestyle entrees like stuffed bell peppers, barbq beef, Fried chicken etc. The service is friendly and obviously is a very popular with the community. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

I had been avoiding Hodel's in favor of Mitt's just down the street because from the outside Hodel's looked like a large, cold, impersonal place where I would not feel at home. But recently a friend brought me and her husband here for the first time, and I found Hodel's to be really charming and worth a visit. I am... More

Our family hadn't gotten together for years...so it was a big deal when we all had a reunion that included plans to eat that night at Hodel's, which has a no. of large tables and is modestly priced. But, when we arrived, the staff flat-out insisted we'd have to take two circular tables (next to one another) -- instead of... More

The breakfast options are limited, was really hoping there would be more since it's a buffet. Things look so sparse when you walk in the door and it was a little confusing. Good wasn't that great, average buffet food I guess. I really just expected more...
