Firstly this is not in Plymouth. Secondly what was a delightful and slightly eccentric little village tea shop which justified dozens or top scores from all" kinds of people was sold last year and the new owners tried to run it under the same name but completely altered the character and food. They have more recently renamed it 'Pellows' which... More

Had a light lunch consisting of smoked salmon sandwich which was more a meal than a snack and was delicious. The same could be said for the prawn sandwich. This restaurant is now doing meals in the evening and is BYO.

We were surprised to arrive on a Friday lunchtime when the sun was shining to find no cars parked outside the cafe and only 2 customers. We chose the mushroom soup and bread. The soup was homemade, well presented and tasty. The bread was rye which had just been baked and was delicious. It is different to the way the previous... More

Used to come here once or twice a year. Liked the old fashioned homely quirkiness of the Tea Room. Knew it had changed hands and that there were some disappointed comments. No point rehearsing why we loved the old furnishings, accessories and style, because anyone who came in those days knew the formula and it's unique appeal. All I can... More

New owners who have given the cafe a new look. Not to everyone's taste but owners friendly and service and food good.

My husband and I have visited the Tea Room on The Green several times in the last few months and have thoroughly enjoyed each experience. The previous decor was rather dowdy in my opinion and the food nothing special, however the new owners have given it a refreshing new decor (it altogether feels cleaner and brighter) and an exciting new... The new style of menu is not as homely, portion sizes are smaller and the prices have gone up. Yes Its been decorated and the charm has gone but you can live with that if the food and atmosphere is good. I note some people say does it matter if tea is not served in a china cup well to... More

The management photos at the head of this thread give an accurate insight into many of the changes that have been abruptly made here since the business changed hands earlier this year. It's a pity that the new owners have not created a website to show more of the new catering and what they are trying to achieve as we'll... More

Hi, Thank you for your review. My business is at least 90% repeat local trade. My customers appreciate the home made quilt wall hangings and the cushions dotted around. The decor, when given a chance, is a focal point for discussion with many swapping sewing tips. They also realize the effort it took to clean and treat the mold and... More

The more active thread on this much changed village cafe is under the Newton Ferrers location. This place is not in Plymouth and probably should not be amongst the city restaurant listings. If you only knew the TOTG before this spring then you may not know that it has not only changed hands but pretty well everything about it has... More

This applies to the decor and the approach of the owner. Had been previously - now under new management. Arrived at 4.30 to be told it was closed - when I pointed out that the sign said 5 pm I was then told in a brusque manner that meant everyone had to be gone by 5 pm. Had been intending... More
