A Pleasent surprise

Not outstanding from the outside but as time was getting on we decided to chance it, a pleasent suprise was to be found inside. After being take upstairs to a small but pleasent resaurant the welcoming staff seated us took drinks order and allowed us to peruse the menu. A lot of burgers but also a... read more

I had read the reviews and seen the Tripadvisor certificate in the window, but the reality didn't match expectations as it was much better than that. 32 kind of burgers, including vegetarians, superb and homemade chips (better than Heston's) and generous helpings together with a very welcoming host and atmosphere. We went twice in one week and the second time... More

Everything was excellent. All my friend, 4 of us are vegetarian and this hit the spot. Lots of choices for us and meat eaters too. Finally found a place that is inclusive!

Small restaurant and a small kitchen the chef has a great meat supplier. We had the 60 day aged steak, it melted in the mouth, we also had the beef kebabs, the rump beef again was top quality. They also do a large range of inventive/creative burgers, we saw some come out of the kitchen, they looked fantastic. You won't... More

Ignore the unprepossessing exterior and give it a go. This traditional pub with a history dating back to 1855 is comfortable and very welcoming but even more impressive is the food. When we were there the menu specialised in burgers (would you believe 25 different types) and grills, though I understand they do tapas at the weekend. Initially, I wasn't... More

If you like HUGE hamburgers this is the place to go. The selection of burgers is extensive and the results are fantastic. The value is great and the host is friendly. The portions are large and you will leave full and contented.

I have only had tapas here but the owners are the best! Cooked for us when they weren't really supposed to be open for food and the tapas were great! Enjoyed the conversation too and interesting story of your life in Spain. Thank you for making our night.

I have to say that I am very disappointed in Pat V's review of the forresters tapas last Saturday. I was in the restaurant at the same time as her and her partner, I was with my husband, daughter and son -in - law, we all ordered 4 tapas dishes each which were all excellant, the waitress was was very... We arrived in town on a Sunday evening with most restaurants closed. B&B suggested this spot. Find the restaurant up two separate flights of stairs, first taking you from Belters Bar, then walk through another casual lounge with bar to a second flight of stairs to the small restaurant above. Spanish tapas in Scotland's Border? Yep, and quite good, too!... More

This was altogether a very disappointing culinary experience. The eating area was shabby and more like a transport cafe than a restaurant. I ordered 3 tapas dishes and none of them even remotely resembled the tapas I have had before. There was no evidence of any properly cooked food: boquerones, which tasted dreadful, a fish dish which was described as... More

thank-you for joining tripadvisor..... I personally haven't eaten in a transport cafe so i wouldn't know what they were like... what I do know is our restaurant is not shabby and is clean and well decorated. As for the food the boquerones come from Spain in tins so they are always fresh the monkfish was indeed monkfish and as for... More
