Great greek home food. Seems that the cook, the waitress and the owners are all the same person or at least the same family. several dishes are cooked with wine.

We only went there once this year, but have visited before, because you can be assured that the food is authentic here, cooked by the owner and served by his wife. There is not the greatest choice but it is plentiful and wholesome, made that day so very fresh, with a free accompaniment of olive purée and bread, but we... More

Back in Plakias a little early this year so have found Lysseos quieter than usual, but gearing themselves up for hopefully another busy season. Food as great as ever, freshly prepared and delicious. Great tsaziki, pork chop with brandy sauce, moussaka and chicken curry to name but a few. Lucas and Lito take great pride in what they do -... More

Of all the tavernas on the sea front we liked this one the best. Authentic well cooked food at reasonable prices with inexpensive (by today's standards) wines too. The lady running the show isn't Greek (maybe German/Austrian not sure so apologies if I've got it wrong) is a model of efficiency working the tables at 90 mph but still having... More

If ever there was a disappointment on my holidays it was visiting the Lysseos Taverna - this has been built up with reviews that it was the best thing since sliced bread, and sadly for me, it wasn't. Even though we dined early evening-ish there wasn't much of a choice on the menu, the staff were dull, uninterested and quite... More

Went to this restaurant because of the reviews, however after being seated and handed the menus alongside some bread, the older waitress came over rather sternly to ask if we'd made our decision - around 60 seconds after being handed the menus!! Felt completely rushed so made our order, had vine leaves and octopus between us to start which were... More

Yes, we do like to eat local food and yes, we're always trying to find the places local people would eat. Lysseos is such a place. Maybe you read we were in Plakias a couple of weeks ago and overthere I was looking for some nice meat dish, you know, a dish with which the soft meat falls from the... More

After reading the reviews thought we would give this a go, although the food was good, my friend had the baby goat, the owner shouted at us 'I don't see you eating'! when in fact we were just taking our time as the portions were huge. Made us feel uncomfortable so we paid and left.
