Decent place. Nice waitress.. I tried the tamales. Got to pick a sauce to put on them which was unique. I got the 'steak' tamales with sour cream sauce. The first bit was total fatty meat. I picked it apart a little bit and there were seriously fat and veins in the meat. I've only seen that one other time... more

We used to make a Texarkana stop just for their queso. It was never referred to as queso blanco, but was made with white cheddar. It was delicious. Unfortunately, La Carretas queso changed to yellow cheese. Overall, the food is good. Without the white cheese, I am less sure they are worth the special stop. They have some unique items... more

The sick waitress leaned over onto our table dripping sweat and then proceeded to cough and hack all over our food. Our order was wrong and needless to say we had all lost our appetite. The manager offered us a gift certificate if we would return, which we did reluctantly about three months later. It was the same mess. We... more
