Historic café

The old South restaurant has been around since I was a child in Russellville. They have a signature salad dressing that is awesome. If you like garlic. Lots of old-school comfort food.

Old South is an older diner in town, but it has the best Southern food around! Definitely home cooked food! Nothing frozen there! It is not a lot to look at on the outside, but the food and service makes up for that! Definitely a must try.

We visited Old South on a Sunday, the day before Labor Day, and they were closing early, at 2pm. It was four minutes before 2, and I didn’t even want to go in after seeing the sign, but my wife decided to ask anyway. We were welcomed with open arms, all eight of us, five adults and three children. There... More

Wanted the fried chicken, but they make it to order, so if you don't have 30-45 minutes to wait, call ahead. Had instead the grilled chicken which was tender and juicy, but was disappointed that I couldn't try the fried chicken. They did have chicken fried chicken, though. Twice baked potato good, mashed potatoes, good, meatloaf, rolls good, old south... More

Old South has a wonderful breakfast special. Two eggs, choice of meat, choice of hash browns or oatmeal, choice of bread, and sausage gravy, all for $5.49. Best coffee...They also have great omelets. In addition, they serve traditional lunch and dinner fare. Vintage diner from the 1940s. You'll most likely be greeted by the owner or his son.

This is a restaurant that has been in business for decades and is still a great eating place and a place where old friends still gather. Others come and go but Old South is a staple in this town. Good food always....friend chicken to club sandwiches to chef salads...just delightful

The food was good but the waitress was overtaxed and forgot a couple things. The prime rib was more done than was ordered but it was nice to have grilled catfish instead of fried/breaded!

The Old South has been a mainstay in Russellville since it was built in the 1940's. It looks much the same as it always has. The service was excellent. I almost got the fried chicken livers, but instead ordered one of the Friday/Saturday specials, grilled salmon and did not regret it. The homemade rolls are some of the best I've... More

Stopped in for the fried pickle slices (apparently, these may have originated here!) and lunch. We ordered the 2 lunch specials - he got the beef tips over noodles; I selected oven fried chicken. Came with a drink and dessert - both for under $13. Just because...we ordered their FRIED GREEN TOMATOES which were huge slices and came with a... More

Very Good Southern food. Family that visit enjoy eating here. Sunday's the serve a Full Turkey W/Stuffing, Friday nights enjoy Prime Rib or a Salmon Supper. We Love their Chicken Fried Steak! The gravy is Outstanding! But save room for the Possum Pie or take it home, you'll Love It!!
